not to be in any way critical of these machines but were they capable of operanting off of hard packed level snow and frozen lakes like a snowmobile ? i was under the impression they were used as a nich weapon on frozen lakes where the germans would really have a hell of a time fighting them with conventional vehicals. 10 or 20 vehicals each with heavy machine guns going 100km got to be a hell of a suprise.

Not if the Germans see and hear them 5 minutes before they are in range. It would not be much more effective than a cavalry charge.

It would make an interesting video game: Sled Blasters.

Yea, I imagine the faces of the Germans were grinning from ear to ear at the sight of the Ruskie Snowmobiles (that they heard and saw coming for 5 min. on the flat Russian Tundra) as they looked over the sights of their 20mm Flak Cannon and 75mm Tank Guns. PAYBACK TIME.

i doubt anyone grins when they realize their enemy is more mobile than they are and its dark out 18 hours a day

Whgates has a good point. Also, YOU try hitting a vehicle with a 75mm cannon from over a kilometer when it's travelling at 100 km/h (62 mph) and steering to evade fire. Not like you'd really need to use these against tanks anyway when all you have are machineguns.
