Is your's the squad for me? Look inside
« on: November 27, 2002, 03:43:37 AM »
Hello ,

Well, after recently becoming addicted to AH I have decided to see if there is a squad that would like to have me as a member. The things I am looking for in a squad are; Training (because I'm sick of seeing other pilots pull manuevers that seem impossible for me), coordinated, team based flying (because the lone wolf stuff is getting a bit tiresome already), tactical approach that mirrors real life tactics  and helps the overall tactical effort of the whole team, and use of voice for comms during ops.

Is there a squad like this for me to join? I hope so! I will need a bit of training for sure but I want to get much better at this so I am highly motivated. Besides I just HATE getting shot down dang it!!  So if your squad might be interested in me please drop a reply here. Type of AC I prefer are US/UK and some German, but this is not a firm requirement. I would also love to get involved with a naval based squad as that is where my heart truly lies. I also prefer ATG to ATA but again, either is fine.

thank you for reading and I look forward to becoming a member of a squad.

D

Give me a shout Ducati. VF-17 is a squadron I am just starting up and right now I am getting a training routine setup for A2G and A2A. It is a naval based squadron but we will fly other aircraft as well. You can email me at nicholsw@NO.bellsouth.net.SPAM . (Just remove the NOSPAM in all CAPS.)

Hey Ducati! !

Check out the 325th FG "CHECKERTAILS" if you are interested in flying in the CT. Our squad flies the P-40E in early war scenarios and a mix of the P-47/P-51 in later war sets. We are also are temporarly flying Japanese planes when there is a PTO set-up in the CT to help bolster the arena.

We are a dedicated A2G Squad with our own in-squad air cover. We fly formal missions and use proper radio procedure to make your flying experience as realistic as possible.

Check out our recruiting poster here in this forum and then our squad web site (Link below my signature). If what you see interests you drop us a line.

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD HUNTING! !

Hi Ducati,
Well, The Cactus Air Force is a firmly established flight sim squad which is currently based in Aces High. We've been flying continuously now for about ten year, and have a great cadre of pilotsl These run the gauntlet from hard core, heavy duty flight simmers to semi-skilled dweebs like myself.
We fly in the Main Arena during the week and our weekly Squad Night, where we all get toether to do a formal mission or two begins at 2130 Eastern Standard Time.
Fly wth several squads to get a "fee" for them and they for you, before jumping in too quickly. The reason the Cactus Air Force has lasted this long is that we are not merely sim pilots but friends, with other simiar things in common. We enjoy wargames such as Battlefront.Com's "Combat Mission" (http://www.battlefront.com ) ; "Operation Flashpoint: 1985, a tremendously robust squad based "shooter" with and astounding level of depth to it along with a map size that puts anyting else in the genre to shame.
Our weekly mission can comprise ANY of the availlable airframes in theMain Arena. For instance, a massed P51 Jabo Rair, Dive bombing enemy Carries with JU88s, ground assaults agains massed Panzer attacks, etc..
Detailed Operations orders are sent out each week via email
to All CAF pilots so they'll know what to exptect when it gets to be time to roll.
As well, we have "An Operations Shack", a secure discussion forum in which we can shoot the breeze, go over AARs for previous missions, discuss upcoiming ones, argue over the modeling of various plane types, et.
We're a good group of fellows and would most cerainly enjoy  havin you take a look at our squad. Here's the URL:

Hiya Ducati :)

Hammer of the =GHOSTS= Squad has a nice write-up on his netAces.org site about choosing a Squad.  It's a good read, check it out if you get a chance.  BTW, you wouldn't go wrong with his Squad either, it's a great bunch of folks.  All the folks who have replied here have excellent Squads, it's one of the neatest things about participating in these flight sims.

My Squad, Nightmares VMF-101, has been full for quite a while, but just this week decided to open a second wing.  Although a lot of our members enjoy the Naval and Marine-based planes, we really are a general-purpose Squad, where the focus is on community participation and having fun.

Your more than welcome to check us out as you search for a Squadron that is a good fit.  We fly for Rookland, and are tuned radio text and vox 165.  Members are usually flying 24/7, just tune 165, give us a hollar, and wing up.  Our website, linked below, has information on Squad nights, TODs and other events, and the HQ section tells about our six year history.

Cya Up!

Ducati,

Check out the 412th FS "Braunco Mustangs".

We have a squad requirement that you fly the P51 or P40 for at least 80% of missions so if you are looking to fly those aircraft almost exclusively then we should be right up your alley.  We concentrate a lot of effort on wingman tactics and have organised training activities.

Check out our website at http://www.brauncomustangs.org.
