Refuel/Rearm
« on: June 10, 2000, 06:52:00 AM »
Ok, just read the latest news about .03.
The thing with refuel/rearming is a bit weird, it's GREAT that it can be done but in my opinion the SORTIE is the flight between take off and landing. So if you land and refuel/rearm and then take off again, it is a new sortie no matter you exit the plane or not. This makes it able to have unlimited kills during a sortie. That's called a STREAK.

What's up with that?

Wilbus,

I think it's a matter of simantics <sp>  The fact that you will be able to land, refuel and rearm is something that has been asked for by several people.  I think it's just an other example of HTC giving it's customer a feature they want that doesn't hurt anything.  I don't see it making any differance in the normal day to day arena.

Now in a scenerio however, think of the possiblities.  In RL (tm) squadrons often had to land, rearm and refuel and go back on station.  Now think of what that will mean in a scenerio when you don't get a shiny new factory fresh plane, but have to go back up into the fight with some previous battle damage.

HT I know you guys are up to your a## in alligators, but how about after 1.03 giving some thought to a Scenerio.  With the sim in it's current state, a big scenerio could be just the kind of advertising that could really kick start a flood of new people into the sim. I know that the lack of historical scenerios is something that is still keeping some people clinging to other sims.

P.S.  I don't want to press too hard, so after 1.03 releases, feel free to take a day off.

I think I will enjoy the refuel/rearm because we may see some planes taxiing   , should make some life on those airports.

The main reason why we keep the sortie alive is for scoring and prestige purposes.

As for scenarios, we're just about there with the coming arena setup interface and terrain editor.
