I am not concluding anything. I'm just stating that if the situation in MA evolves in a certain way it would kill my fun. And, while I think the natural path will go this way, I have a lot of fun in here, I do appreciate the community, and Htc. has proved many times it cares about the quality of this product, so I'm willing to give the game the benefit of the doubt.

At those fields where 25 guys are vulching they are not all ranked players.

 But you can bet the chances of finding one at a vulched field is enormously high

 ...

 Anyhow, things got a bit exaggerated. Of course, people won't suddenly make two accounts for the sole purpose of making some money, I don't think anyone is actually THAT lame..

 but Wotan, we do have to consider that when actual money becomes at stake, money which we all have paid to HTC, a lot of things where people would just laugh and look over will suddenly become a lot more serious and hectic.

 There's just no denying that with actual profits in form of cash is ay stake some people will start doing some things that (while not as goofy or lame as some people exaggeratively suggest) will in the long run hurt the community and hurt the game. Levels of hostility and competition are already high in the MA where nobody gets cash rewards.

 Reward them with honor, with titles, with medals, with recognition, with whatever that will satisfy their egos, but leave the money out of this. A lot of people won't approve of seeing the money they worked hard to earn, and dearly paid to HTC being used to reward someone they don't know, or someone they don't like.

 I wouldn't mind if this deal was a one-time only special event. But this? No, there's no way this can contribute to AH and its community.

This is the yellow brick raod to the arcade game. Those that spend damn near 24/7 in the game have the best chance at some bucks.

Hehehe, my best finish was in the 200's.  Far cry from the top 15.  IMO, just a gimmick for the people who have no lives and fly 15000 sorties a month....

Personally I ain't gonna worry about it, and I am not even gonna pretend that I have a snowball's chance in hell of cracking the top 100 much less the top 15. This will only effect about 30-40 players as far as who actually has a shot at it. The top 15 players got where they are and stayed where they have been doing what they will continute to do, fly well, work the system a little (which is common sense) and pick their fights wisely. If HTC is willing to pony up 100 bones to the top players more power to them, can you think of anyother online games that give you so many was for them to give you money back? There is the affiliate program that can earn you way more money than the "top gun" award, or spend a few nights in the training arena helping out new players to get a cash credit. If you need 100 bucks that bad it is time to re-think paying 15 bucks a month to play a game.
  What truly does humor me is the way all the people are attacking each other and HTC in the forums, it's like a bunch of women at the mall talking about other women and the clothes they are wearing.......damned amusing.
   The "score potatos" will always be here, cash money or not. Before this contest usually what drove them was bragging rights and ego, can't see where 100 bones will change that.

  Will we see less crash and burn Jabo's, most likely not, those guys were never in the running anyway.

  Will we see more kill stealing, most likely no more than usual, the really good players don't get "stuck in" huge furballs, that is what makes them good players.

  Will we see more people trying to boom and zoom and run away, maybe for a little while till they realize that they are not in the top 15 already for a reason, and they will go back to playing like normal.

You don't have to fly that many sorties or for XX number of hours in order to get a high rank.  The way the ranking system is set up, it's very easy to manipulate.

Take an A-20 to a nearby enemy town and destroy it and have the score it as a bomber.  Now get a goon and capture that town.  Do the same thing a couple of times and you're bomber rank will be below 100.  The same things goes for GV ranks.  Take an Ostie and flatten a nearby enemy town and then take an M3 to it for the capture, repeat the process on another town and your GV score will be below 100.  You can then have a mediocre ranking in both attack and fighters and your over all rank will be high.

I don't think giving out money is the end of the world or will change the dynamics of the MA at all, it's just going to make those that fly like dweebs still fly like dweebs and those of us that scoff at them will still scoff at them.

I like Mitsu's idea about the winner chooseing his or hers favorite plane. That way we can all lobby err whine to the leader for our own plane choice instead of HTC .

This contest will only be beneficial to a few - but those few, and we know who they are, will be interesting to watch Now if the contest was to include the top 300 or so, I may have a chance. Although my score does not reflect anything near that chance at the moment.

And turn off killshooter for anyone in the top 15. That way, if you're unlucky enough to be on the same side as someone in the top 15, you don't get locked out of the fun.

So I change my vote.  The contest, being based on rank, favors the score potatos, the no-lifes, the Festers.  Hell, against that line-up, scumbags like me, who had already convinced my squaddies to line up for vulching by our most lifeless redeye and putting the proceeds in the squad debauchery fund, don't stand a chance.

I don't want my AH money going to anything other than HTC employees and AH development (unless it's my squad's debauchery fund ).  Especially not people I have zero respect for.

So, put me down as thinking "this sucks" as long as it's based on the rank system.
