HTC thought this through?
« on: December 02, 2002, 04:05:07 PM »
you sure about this?

Score system is porked.  Everyone know's it's porked and for the last 3 years every so often someone will start a thread saying it's porked.....and nothing gets done about it. I cant be arsed to detail all the reasons why it's porked, plenty of others already have and I'm sure will continue to do so.  Will HTC be employing a new dogsbody to deal with the new improved whine level?

Top 15 players every month become eligable for the 60 player shoot out held quarterly.  Um.....ok, so what if it's always the same 15 players making the top spots every month?  We have a 15 player shoot out?

Basically.....how ya gonna stop Fester winning every month?

If this is gonna be like a wild wednesday.....how ya gonna stop the guys who load 2 DTs and circle at 35k until everyone else is outta ammo?

And what if someone has made the top 15 through mainly jabo scoring (for example).....how is a 60 player furball a fair competition for them to compete in?  Wouldn't a kind of Aces High Olympics with various events be fairer? I can think of a bucket load right now.......

How will the shoot outs be held at a time when everyone in the whole world can make it?  Or are they only for US players?

In some countries does this $50 count as taxable income?

Will HTC settle out of court when various spouses open divorce proceedings due to hubby spending 10 times as long on the PC?

Will there be a yearly championship with a $1000 prize and a snog from Yankee as well? No?  Ok. ;)

Totally agree....nothing to stop dweebs from just flying the La7 100% of the time. There are many good piolts here...but with this new system there is no reason not to fly all the 1944/45 planes 100% of the time. Boooo don't like it.

This could usher in a new era... that of the score-potato.

I completely disagree.

How stupid do you think those new players this should draw are? I am sure noone with less than at least a year flying online will make it to the top 15. Also those that have the skill to get there are not those that do suicide runs.

No positive effect on MA gameplay at all.

Maybe, but how much worse can it get?

We'll find out I guess.

You're 100% right about the score system swoop.  It needs to be worked on before anything like this is done.

As for changing MA behaviour, it will only widen the gap between the "uber-players" and everyone else.  It is consistantly the same group of people getting the top rankings, and sure they can fight over it all they please.

The only bit of MA behaviour I can see this changing, is perhaps getting some of the small group of pilots capable of getting the top 15 rank, who normally fly tougher planes to switch to la7s, p51d, etc for the sake of rank.  (Considering that what you fly has no bearing on score)

I'd much rather see the money spent on overtime to get 1.11 out quicker.

My 2-bits, the MA will be a more land em and less furball environment.

WTG HTC.

And who cares who wins, actually might be fun trying to keep the uber pilots out of the top 15:)

That'll be a different twist to a dweeb hunt....I expect each country to freely give up the location of anybody in contention of this prize.

Besides, it gets tiring being called a fuken assol after shooting certian individuals down, this is going to be interesting for sure ;)

Awarding dweebery in the MA is, IMO, a new low for HTC.

Remember when ACM was the reason to fly?

To me it doesn't bother me either way. I simply don't play enough to even do one bomber sortie - I'd much rather jabo or up a fighter. I haven't a hope in hell of getting in the top 100 at the moment.

However, as a kind of aside, I'd like the score system revamped or just reviewed. The reasons are many and have been posted several dozen times already.

Scenarios are where it's at, for me.

Totally agree Swoop.

I can see the cherrie picking in P51's and la7's increase already.

Not to mention the ranting on ch 1 when a 'top 15 pilot' gets shot down.

Furthermore it'll be almost the same pilots every month (as already stated by Swoop), 10 of those are not top pilots but merely 200+ hrs/month players,

I'm gonna make it my prio one: hunting top 15 pilots

muuuhahahahahaha  :D

You guys missed the part where he said you can only win once?
