Mother board problems
« on: December 06, 2002, 11:54:43 AM »
Just installed a new ecs L7VTA mother board with usb2 port's. I cant get them to turn on. I go into setup and turn on usb ports but as system boots it gets to installing new usb hardware and the system hangs.  Anyone run across something like this?

I had a problem like that when I tried to swap a VIA based motherboard in for an older intel motherboard.  Windows couldn't get it straight even after I removed every single hardware component from device manager, so it still tried to load intel drivers for the via hardware.

I had to do a complete windows install, since even doing a windows "upgrade" type install over the old installation failed in the same way.  I deleted the windows directory and started over.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

Try getting the latest 4 in 1 VIA drivers. That should cure the USB hangups.

Well I never could get the usb ports on the mother board to work. So I went out and bought a add on usb 2.0 card and guess what it worked no problems. So the ports on the board must be bad.
