Show me where he has stated this?

As far as I can tell he still seems to be in denial.

Can you point me to any sources that indicate he claims to be recovering?

I tried many ways to clean up my act, 12 step was the only one that worked for me.

WJC is a dirtbag too funked, but a stiff dick doesn't seem as serious a problem in comparison to dope/alcohol.....does it? :D

I only added the part about bush because I look at him and see myself as I was years ago.... and know the consequences of substance abuse, and how easy it is to backslide.

Yeah IIRC he has gone on record numerous times that he had addiction problems and has said he is in recovery.  I thought it was common knowledge.  I'll look for some quotes.

Congrats on your recovery BTW.  Keep it up man.  :)

Hmmm this is the best I can find.

Also the only thing he admits to using is alcohol.  He waffles on illegal drugs as I'm sure you know.

That article reinforces my opinion.

If he's recovering he has a long road to go.

I don't see it given his continued support of "the war on drugs", as IMO it's flawed policy without any hope of resolving the problem.

The money would be better spent on treatment and education rather than narrowly focusing on supply interdiction.

I know a lot of pretty good people who will be in prison for years as the result of this near sighted policy....people who's only real crime is having a disease they can't control.  :(

I watched part of the Houston/Brown interview the other night and when Bobby talked about self medicating with marijuana I knew exactly where he was coming from as I realized years ago that I was doing the same thing.

Someday we will have a president with the vision and balls to correct the situation....but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Well it's not a good sign if we have a president who is in recovery but we still have insane drug policies.  :(

If anyone should understand this problem it's him.  But he either doesn't get it or (more likely) won't do the right thing for fear of not getting re-elected.

Or maybe he doesn't agree with you. You seem to have forgotten that possibility.

Hmm... I have about 15 years in recovery and I don't feel qualified to judge...  he certainly seems to be doing ok to me but... I don't hang out with him.   I have never "backslid"  I don't think I could go through it again.   I have had plenty of excusses tho.  Bet bush has too.   I don't think you (weazel) are the only one who has had it tough enough that you had to backslide.

I agree with funked tho... I can't believe that you would put down the efforts of someone trying to recover.  Or... that we are even arguing about quality of recovery... or ... that you would not recognize the behavior in jfk.   I also don't think that a lot of anger is good for anyones recovery.
