question bout the n1ki
« on: October 17, 2000, 06:12:00 PM »
Last night I took up a 109-F4 to practise for the Afrika-thing, and a couple of times encountered some handsomehunk n1ki dweeb pilot... Creamo was his name I think.

Anyway, a couple of times because of my lousy shooting the fight degenerated into turning on the deck. Now I have been known to turn the odd plane, and creamo ain't bad at it either. But his N1ki was all over my 109 in the turn, not only was he turning inside my radius his n1ki was faster (ie tighter turn radius and better turn speed).

Now I know the 109F4 is pretty ....ummm... low in the uber-charts, but I thought it'd be able to turn at least?

p.s. Creamo kept telling me to lower my flaps, but I tell ya the damn thing won't unless ur like doing 50mph!

N1K2-J: 8800lbs, 253ft^2, 1990HP. Wings have automatic manouevering flaps.
Me 109F-4: 6000lbs, 173ft^2, 1300HP. Wings have manual split flaps.

They are close; the N1K2-J turns a smaller radius, possibly a little faster(time). Fuel load is going to be a big factor.

He's right though, one notch of flaps in the Franz cuts turn radius by about 10%, without affecting turn rate much. Problem is they don't extend until you get below 175mph IAS.

About the only thing that can turn inside the Nik1 is a Spit 5 and the zeke.

202 will clobber a N1K2 if he is foolish enough to stall fight you.

Yeager, they did fix it, reduced the lethality of the guns (V1.03) and fixed the porked flight model (V1.04)
