A new twist to the suicide bomber thing...
« on: December 08, 2002, 09:41:49 AM »
For Jabo planes only;

< All bomb sizes available at large fields. >

< 500 pounders and smaller available at medium fields. >

< 250's and smaller (and rockets) available at small fields. >

This certainly would cut down on the overall poundage of ordinance delivered by attack aircraft.  The cost would be the same for all; if you want bigger bombs, you MAY have to fly from a further field to get them.

That is an idea that directly contrasts what HT has stated is the games direction, use JABO for fields and give bombers tactical targets.

I am constantly amazed at the entire "suicide bomber" threads, when no one seems to care about suicide attacks ON the bombers propagated by fighters.  As an occasional buff drivers, I can assure you that 95% of all the attacks on bombers are without reguard to surviving, they are "I hope I get 1 or 2 before I get destroyed" attacks.

The reason is simple, very few people take the time to become effective bomber pilots, and people tend to whine most about that which they cannot do/don't understand.  For all the hours I spend in the MA, I find the only real issue to be the attacks on CVs which are clearly and repeatedly made with no tactical skill, but only the hopes that if 20 people do it, a few will get through.  As anyone who spends much time with CV ops can tell you, these suicide attacks only work well when the CV is being used by a small number of players.  Well defended CVs tend to survive for over 30 minutes, and the base all of these suicide bombers are comming from should have been toast long before then.

about a year ago i said to perk all the heavier bombs for fighters.. if you don't survive you don't earn fighter/bomber perks...

i still say it is the only way.   I also say that is the only perk system that would work.

Just bring in a penalty for death.

Get killed = can't up from same base straight away (but you can up from another one)

Means if you suicide you (most likely) can't get back into the fight as quickly.

ugh... death-penalty proponent wussies like you make my skin crawl!!!

i never set out to suicide, but neither is it an overwhelming priority to RTB...

any sort of death penalty will only make for a game of even more timid players like you.

i think i just might push for the top 15 just to show everyone that this new contest doesn't necessarily favor "timid"  weenie gameplay-types like everyone thinks it is.

I just want to have a game that is slightly more realistic than it is now.  I do not want to have AH turn into a Quake-Deathmatch-Mega-Insta-Spawn-Suicide-Fragfest arcade game.  I would like an element of simulation in there...
