Just so you guys cant say it wasnt brought up ;=)
Obviously AH needs something a la deft's system.*Anything* but the old lots-of-money-lots-of-freetime-big-scores system.
This is the only point where I feel the old IMOL team let us down so -

The scoring system is consists of a database that keeps track of a ton of different fields.  From this database, you'll be able to access a variety of sortable stats from within the game or at our webpage.  

Overall rating is determined by ranking a pilot in each of 10 areas covering both fighter and bomber stats.  The average ranking of those areas will be the overall rating.  

If you're not interested in scoring, then this means nothing to you.  If you're only interested in capturing the top spot in one or a few statistical categories, you'll still get that exposure.  If you're interested in improving your overall rating, then it'll be a good way to expand the types of flying and missions that you do.

Pyro I assume you'll be having something similar to WB ToDs?

Any way that our stats could then be either archived so we can look back for comparisons or maybe emailed at the end of the ToD?

Would sure be handier than having to remember to logon and get a .sco at the end of a tour.

A specific plane dependent variable would be nice; ie best 109, pony ect pilot.Will encourage more widespread use of planes avalible.

You guys do know that if you expect any scoring from deft, the P40 better be one of the first planes off the assembly line!

Hey, Danish, that's a great idea.  If the database could keep track of each sortie, so that you could interrogate it to find out how you (or someone else) did flying Spits, or F4Us or whatever.  In fact, if it did track each sortie, you could find out how you did in the last 10 sorties, last 100, first 10 etc etc.

Glars:  Old tours/camps, whatever we call them will be archived.

Topcat:  Every kill will be logged into the database.  The kill information will include player ids and plane types.  We'll probably just provide the format to the public and let an interested party come up with how they want to query it.

Pyro,

Will a player's score ever go DOWN?  Way back in 1.03 (?) the scoring system had a sortie weight, where until you got about 50 sorties, your score was almost guaranteed to go up becuase there was a sortie count weighting (sorties divided by around 50 until it hit a 1/1 ratio).  After that, it was "fully weighted" and could go up or down based on the player's performance.

I think that this was a nice feature, as it had 3 critical features.

First, it prevented someone from having a single awesome sortie early on, thereby capturing the top spot with an untouchable score.

Second, it truly showed long term performance.  If your performance improved over the score TOD, your score would go up.  Gunnery, K/D, total kills, etc. were all factored in so improvements in even only one of these would be reflected in the score.

Third, it prevented people from "buying their score".  After that first bunch of sorties, merely flying around didn't help a bit unless the player actually did better on subsequent sorties.  

I know that this formula isn't conductive to getting and keeping paying players in the arena (you guys GOTTA make money otherwise you can't make a game for us to play), but it helped ensure that the most skilled players got the highest scores.  Add in some sort of score reward for those less skilled players who are willing to play endless hours, but please balance it so a truly talented player can get the top score without spending a few hundred hours online each month.

I didn't really like that old modifier for kills/time spent online, but maybe a stronger weighting for kills/sortie would help differentiate between those who earn score by flying thousands of sorties and those who are more effective killers on each sortie.

I'd like to see the removal of the "Brand X" use of "Assists" and replace it with "Damaged." This is a more historical reference. It could also be used to track planes you shot up, but made it back. There should be some reward for shooting someone up so that he has to exit the fight. When you are escorting BUFFS or other raiders, your priority is to get them off the BUFFS not get kills. There is no reward for that now in 'that other sim.'

Would also like to see 1/2 credits for kills to those that shared knocking down a plane, if that is possible. It would go as a 1/2 kill if two pilots have close to the same damage caused, other wise it goes as a "kill" and a "Damage," same as Assist is given now by the 'other sim.'

Give full kills only if you're the only one to shoot at the enemy. Rest of te time you'd end up with a shared victory. Maybe that's gonna take some of the incentive to gang bang everything that moves.

You knew I was going to jump in here at some point.  

Don't just dump 'kill events'.

Make as much information about the current state of the arena available as possible.  This includes captures, kills, bomb damage ect.

All of this information should be dumped directly by the arena into a database (not to a flat text file).

You could create a dynamic website that changes to reflect the current status of (and most recent events) the arenas.

Pyro I think you've heard my score preaching spiel before.  So I won't repeat it all here.

Ill just make one quick addendum.

Careers.  I get hammered by emails asking if it is possible to go back further then the last TOD of Warbirds for scores.  I must inform them that, Unfortunately I have no proof that =scop= was at one time a newbie and not very good.

what i would like:
a local log file that contains my history for the TOD. for each sortie give plane type, ord load, launch time, what i hit ( e.g. a rook spit ), who hit me , plane damage, my fate, etc...
would make it much easier to figure out what was happening ( particular useful for squads ).
also: dont tell me i've been awarded a kill while i'm in flight. that should only happen after i land ( and the gun cam footage has been analyzed ).
while i'm at it: give us more than 3 sec of a plane flying after the pilot has been killed. give the dead pilot some fade to red and a funeral cut scene while the plane keeps flying with some ( random? ) control input. that way it would be posible for a pilot to "play dead" in desperate circumstances.
just a few suggestions towards making a better sim....

ps: on scoring...
scoring should be primarily based on your current life. keep all the stats, and have sorted lists and all, but when you check your score ( and medals and rank and such )you should be looking at what you've done since your last death. that should help with the furball mentality.
