Uncommon Valor is one of the finest wargames ever. It was created in part by Gary Grisgby, who did the original "Pacific War".
Run, don't walk, back to the store and get it! I would love to play a PBEM game of it with you. While it can be played solitaire, the game really shines when you play by email with another human.
Btw, we have 3 of us in the Flying Mongrels who are already playing PBEM games with each other. It's a great game!
The only caveate, though, is that you really need to RTFM, or else you won't understand all the rules. But once you get the hang of it, you get sucked in and get addicted.
But that's a good thing!
