205 has no range... none

you takeoff you climb to 14k you get a kill and have to rtb for fuel or stay and run out.

other than that its nice
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

The Tony doesn't roll nearly as well as the 205, but turns a bit better IMO.  Overall slower and worse handling at high speeds.  Also, the ROF on the 20mm cannons is nice, but you'll find yourself empty quite quickly, so if your gunnery is average or poor, better leave it in the hangar.

Fester:  C.205 endurance is 28 minutes in the MA.  If you can only land 1 kill in 28 minutes of flying then endurance is the least of your problems.

Yep, its definately my go-to plane. Hmmmm, if only we had a nice Italian bomber to go with it...

You're not supposed to fight with the plane you pilot.

The C.205 used to have no range, but it definitely does now. You have the AUX tank, the MAIN tank, and the wing tanks. Are the wing tanks new? If they're not new, then ignore what I just said, but I used to think the exact same thing Fester. It took me messing around with the fuel selection to find the wing tanks (because I always used to RTB when the main got low).

the point is kill tally shows how much you want it, and in the case of machis it's not so important because they are easy to win kills with if you put yourself to it.

Beeker- The wing tanks aren't new but they definitely dry up the fastest.  And the auto-select drains them last, so when the Main tank's low it's a good idea to head home.  :)

I used to fly the 205 a lot because it's a very capable plane that'll earn you some nice perkies.  It is nice on the pizza map with the hi-alt fields for short interception flights (not to mention the desert camo).

Does anyone have a graphic of a little animated squirming trout or something? Not only would it be great for this thread, but I'd like to keep it around just in case.....

Citabria,
I was used to take off with 100%, get to 18-20K, make a couple sector patrol, get 1-3 kills and then come back with 25% fuel. You allied pilots should learn how to use fuel. You are too used to have tons of fuel, internal and/or external ;)
"And one of the finest aircraft I ever flew was the Macchi C.205. Oh, beautiful. And here you had the perfect combination of italian styling and german engineering .... it really was a delight to fly ... and we did tests on it and were most impressed." - Captain Eric Brown
