Well, no, but stay away from the cattle.  Mr. Fish has been acting kind of weird ever since he got really drunk and mounted one by mistake.

Just for safety's sake tho', I'd recommend using a condom.  And stick with the ribbed kind, the sheep really seem to enjoy them.

Maby Its my generaly toejamty mood tonight or the fact that im a farmer but i find jokes about this desease in bad taste. There are farmers that are having thier whole herd destroyed over this and probably loosing thier whole livelyhood, which in the case of a farmer most likely means his home as well.

Ive seen herds around me stricken with BVD "bovine viral diarrhea", loosing large #'s of animals. Its  scary toejam, so I can relate.

Good point rosco.

Most folks here not being farmers, we don't realize how serious this is.  It would be like all my computers and network wiring bursting into flames.  I've been hearing about some of the farmers in England who are actually under quarantine and can't leave their farms because of infected animals nearby.  The situation is further complicated by the fact that those who raise animals who are not infected can't sell them or slaughter them properly.  So they have more generations of animals eating more and more feed that costs even more money while they can get no revenue.  It's a very nasty situation that I hope is resolved as quickly as possible.

However, I do separate that serious situation from the traditional humour of sheep/pilot relations in the online sim community.  I'm sure no offense was meant, but thanks for pointing out the serious side of the situation.

Oh... and one other note.  I was all serious until I read the end of your post.  Ok, maybe it is bad taste and all, but man that just came out... welll...

Acutally I wasnt trying to make a funny...but I guess I did   FWIW BVD is a real desease, and a serious one. Fortunatly its preventable with vaccines.

I understand the intent of this is not to make light the unfortunate situation of UK farmers. But as I can relate to this unfortunate situation it just irks me a bit is all. I wont take it personally t hough

JFYI

Anybody within 3 miles under 'suspected cases' and 8 miles for an outbreak is restricted to not leaving that area.  Farmers cannot leave their farms at all.

For about 2 months...

The entire heards of everyone in that radius is destroyed, cattle also now... usually farmland and houses are asset leverage for extra land so no payments to Mr.BankManager means.....  and those 2 months dont give much chance for recovery.

All country paths and scenic areas are closed.  Most signs now say 'Sorry, Countryside Closed'.

Wow Rosco.. you're a farmer? My family heritage reigns from North Dakota (and before that Germany) and that's pretty much all they knew so I understand where you're coming from.

However, it's in human nature to make a joke out of something because really... what can you do but laugh?

While not along the same lines here's a story: I was up at Annapolis, MD to go to District court to contest a speeding ticket I got. There was no doubt about it, I was guiltier than guilt itself (115mph in a 50). I got it down to a 64 in a 50 and you can imagine how happy I was. As I was leaving the district court, I had to go down a long stretch of road and it was raining hard. I was the last car in a 5 car accident, I just barely avoided running into a pickup who's bed hatch was down. The pickup(a large dodge ram) slid into an accord in front of him and the accord was smashed like a pancake. This guy was the luckiest SOB in the world, the seat he was sitting in unlocked and the back flipped down... saving him from his head being mated with the roof. I was out there as a "witness" to the accident, someone had done this for me, so I stayed around. The guy in the Accord and the guy in the Ram both got out and started talking and I talked with them. They both began laughing and joking around about the accident. The guy in the Ram was accident prone, so his insurance was bound to go up to the point he prolly wouldn't be able to drive again. The guy in the Accord, well the car was completely destroyed so he was going to have get a new one. The other two cars I didn't really talk to, I didn't see their part of the accident. Well, the two guys I talked to joked about the accident and how close one guy came to being seriously injured.

Morale of the story: When humans are scared, hurt or some endangered- humans tend to joke around about very serious and scary matters to lighten the mood and help themselves through the rough times.

Basically that's what I view it as Rosco, but I'm sure it's a very serious matter to you and scary.

I dunno.. I thought I had a point. Oh well. :-)

On a relatively close subject, there actually was an outbreak of hoof-and-mouth reported in Vermont today. Sheep; wouldn't you know?

<edit>
Wrong disease. Mad Cow disease, not hoof-and-mouth.

Maby Its my generaly toejamty mood tonight or the fact that im a farmer but i find jokes about this desease in bad taste.

Im getting old.

I remember when "The Duke" kicked everyones bellybutton without mercy and smoked on TV, you could eat red meat without Opra starting a liberal TV war against cattlemen, my Mom cooked dinners and we didn't need daycare, Frank Sinatra and thr Rat Pak had life figured out, and people weren't bleeding heart, whining, weak popsicles.

Man, when a guy makes a goof on a issue like this disease, and someone makes it sound as if they are immoral bastards, I just laugh.

Course, rametz4 is pry still in bed unable to get up carry on with this tragedy, but to the rest of ya... paaaaaleeeeeez.

Relax for Christ's sake.
