Vietcong demo

This thing is great!

EDIT:

Oops, got posted a bit quickly.

Anyway, it's a multiplayer demo - has a couple issues, but the potential there is incredible.  Graphics are especially nice, and lots of little touches here and there that are cool.

Just had some really fun games online.

Downloading now - thx.

Just out of curiosity - how many of you downloading this were actually in Vietnam?  (Not a troll, honest question)

Played the last few nights - REALLY cool game - lots of potential.  The netcode needs some work - but it is a Beta/Demo afterall.

Surprisingly there are ALOT of 'Nam vets playing the game - they take it pretty seriously - its a nice change from the usual 13 year old mentality on DoD.

Definately on my buy list.

I played it a few times the past couple of nights and didn't find anything exceptional about it other than the scenery.  Player models look strange in motion and the gameplay is nothing special - sort of a cross between Counter-Strike and OFP but rather half-hearted IMO.  Hopefully they'll make something interesting out of the single player mode.

The screen shots with the rain looking promising.. Is there more than one level in the demo? Every server I joined I was instantly TK'd on spawned.

The terrain in and of itself is a huge step forward.  No more wide open, flight sim style outdoor, or cramped city streets - there is a LOT of useable cover, and a lot of game features that help you use it (if you haven't already, crouch (shift) behind a fallen log.  Hit the right mouse button to raise yourself up and aim over the log.  If you look at people crouched - they are very low when not aiming - cool stuff.)

Agreed, possibly the single best part of the demo. Logs, and even slight depressions in the terrain make excellent cover coupled with the use of the 'iron' sight mode is a fantastic feature.
