5 seconds and out...
« on: December 16, 2002, 06:14:29 PM »
Immediately upon entering the game, i sit for a moment in tower looking at the map.  Everything loads up, and once the players start to show up and the background engine noise starts up i am immedately booted back to desktop.  Never had this problem before and experienced very few boots unlrelated to AOL losing its connection.  My system is perfectly adequite to run the game also.  1.3GHz P4, with a 64Mb GeForce2 video card.

Please help, post or email with a fix.  Thanks.

Same thing happens to me, but only in MA . TA works fine and h2h also as long as I'm not using the mindano terrain. I think it is the mindano terrain that is causing game crash .

I found out a common problem in each situation.  I get booted regardless of were i go...but its the background engine noise.  I upped in the TA as a country with nobody around, transferred to another and immediately upon hearing the backround 'hum' of engines...wham im out of the game.  offline is the same because for some whatever reason those planes follow you around.  this is going to need fixed!  anybody else have any comments/suggestions?

Hi, I have the same problem. Win98SE.
I was worried that my system wasn't able to handle the new version, but since you guys have much better systems than me, I am glad that is not the case. :-)
Anyway, when I read what Golfer said about the engine noise, I tried removing the engine sounds "engstart.wav, eng.wav, and engoff.wav". That didn't fix it. Well, I tried, LOL. There are other sounds for the jet engines and such, I didn't try removing those.  I was hoping that someone could find a way sort of like this to try to fix the problem temporarily. Not sure why the game is having trouble when the engine sound plays, weird.

Was able to Host a new H2H room with nobody in it. Engine sound for my plane worked fine. I don't know what would happen if someone came into the room, no one did. I think it is definately caused by the Background sounds, but how or why, I don't know.

I am using Riptide pci audio legacy sound card. Switched to older drivers, didn't work. Even tried starting the game with sound card disabled, still crashed .
