Did you all know...
Heinz Guederian, a famous Pz. officer of the German army in WW2 was appointed inspector general of all German armored forces in 1943.
He noted that there were many 'younger' (as compared to those trained before and in the early days of WW2) Pz. crew trainees being assigned during the great 'rebuilding' of Germany's Pz. forces in 1942-1943.
So he instuted a program where training manuals would have witty cartoons, catch phrases, illustrations, etc. - all using 'soldier's humor' to aid in effective training.
Here's a link to the 'Tigerfibel' - a training manual issued to PzKpfw VIE 'crews-in-training':
http://www.geocities.com/tigerfibel/tigerfibel.htm(AH 1.17ish needs actual historical gunsights for MBTs, etc. I've looked thru actual WW2 MBT gunsights still mounted in WW2-era MBTs - when you see how they worked, etc. you understand why Allied MBT gunners were hopelessly outmatched when it came to long range gunnery for almost the entirety of WW2)
Enjoy,
