51 Front view now sucks!!!

maybe I should have been more specific.. I find the obstruction on the top of the windshield to be objectionable. also, some of the gauges are off the bottom of my screen now(I'm sure this is fixable somehow)  By the way Bohdi, I was in the cockpit of a p51D this Saturday.

The new P51 cockpit and front view is awesome. The only drawback I see is the thicker frame for the armor glass causing loss of contact when a target tries to turn or climb.

Hate to say it but I agree with Steve! The cockpit looks great but the bar across the top blocks the forward-up view. I was just starting to like the 51 too. Oh well, I'll either get used to it or fly something else. The icon disappearing in the sights sucks big time. Glad Skuzzy said it'd be fixed in the next patch.

You don't need the icon to shoot if the target is in range.
You can map the fwd hat to be elsewhere than home, many other planes have much worse, e.g. the 152 going up a formation's six has that center canopy bar.
51D cockpit is really great, almost a perfect plane in the context of AH's hangar selection.

The things I noticed most--

several of the instruments are in different locations.

There is no longer a slip indicator on the gunsight.

The instruments seem generally smaller and somewhat tougher to read although they're still clear enough for me.

Perhaps HTC is gradually moving towards more "historic" cockpits?

The canopy bar is indeed a bit thicker, but this is not a thicker (foreward-view key can be mappable to a different location to see around the bar)

I find that in order to see my rate of climb indicator and slip indicater, I have to set the view too far back to read the ammo and other instruments as well as I could before.

It may seem petty, but I use the climb/descent indicater a lot and now all my instruments are smaller ( farther away) and I can't really disern the ammo load numbers unless I zoom back in.

The updat plane looks great though and this update was an amazing improvement to the game.

I have a GREAT connect now and I LOVE the Komet.

Here is what i have to say to you people complaining about the new patch.

The default head position allows you to see the entire dash without hiding any gauges from view. You should also be able to reposition your up and forward view so that the upper frame member is not obscuring your view. I like the changes.

When I first ran into the vanishing icon thing yesterday I made the 110 responsible pay dearly! Little did I know it was a bug. It has been fixed now.
