Downtown,
I work in the Flight Data Recording systems of a Major Aircraft manufacturing company.

I can give you a really fair price for one, althought its about a years salary for most.

Sorry but I have to bring up AW again.

AW had a guncam option built in and it was VERY cool. You d press a certain key (F9 I think)the camera started to roll and the program would tell you how much film (reserved disk space) you had left. You could tape for a looong time, I still have films that run for about 10 mins. When you exited your plane you d be promted for an action (save film/delete film)
These files weren t that large so you could mail them to your squaddies easily.
The playback in the "film room" pretty much looked like the game engine: You could watch the action from either inside (cockpit view) or outside.
The films recorded everything that happened on your FE during the time the camera was running, including text AND voice messages by you and all other players.
I ve been waiting to see something like that for WB and I d definetly want it in AH. In the interview on "dogfighter.com" Pyro or HT mentioned that a guncam option would be included in AH BTW, so I m anxious to see what kind of camera they ll give us.

Sascha

P.S.: An option for  trigger activation of the  camera would be coolest imho. I still remember a lot of moments in AW when I said to myself: "Damn, that was a cool kill...too bad u forgot to activate the camera."

For reality,

YOu could have one of those cameras that was mounted where a gun went, and lose a gun.

Or one that mounted on the airframe, and affected performance.

I myself would prefer the trigger option, and if its less dificult to code it in black and white, smaller frame size, Etc.  So it looked like original gun camera footage.

Yes, I have seen color GunCamera Footage, USN in the Pacific, later in the war I think.

Hmmm DT.

Not sure about the Axis stuff, but the US P-51/P-47/P-38/F4U etc all had integral Gun camera mounts. No dropping a gun / no performance hit. Weight was only a few pounds, and most of the bulk was in the film canisters.

Yes we will have gun cam. It will not be in the early beta's.

For those of you who don't know my history I started writing flight sims after writing a AW film play back tool called VFILM. When i final write the gun cam play back feature for AH it will be very simalar to VFILM.Picture a VCR with slow motion and rewind all with the view running. Other features will be wing tip smoke trails to help you analize fight's, And cut and paste features for puting a buntch of films together.

Hitech, could you have something to adjust the Framerate on the playback, and colorization, SO I can make em black and white and choppy, like all the real ones I have seen.

Gee even a scratched frame feature, so I can go for Full Realism?

There was a post in another thread mentioning AW recording voice in with the guncam as well.  That would be a cool thing to implement -- then some creative individuals might start making "movies" for the collective enjoyment.

There are sheep, but right now they're just "eye candy".
