Damage Model?
« on: August 03, 1999, 12:08:00 PM »
One of the things that I find most aggrivating about Warbirds is the damage model.

Now supposedly that was left to them by another group of people.  But little has been done about it to date.

Here are some of my gripes about Damage Modeling.

Engine Damage.
There should be a loss of performance in some cases of engine damage.  The Runs just great until it dies, is the PITs and HAS TO GO.

Yes there should be coolant leaks that cause the engine to overheat and eventually sieze.

Yes there should be a loss of oil that causes the engine to overheat and sieze.

Yes there should be a loss of fuel that cause the engine to sputter and die.

But You can crack an engine block with a well placed 50Cal.

You can shear the cylinder heads of a Radial engine with a little 20MM.

Engines should sputter, spit, throw fits.  And not allow a P-51 that has all sorts of problems to RUN AWAY from a 109 every time.

Little effects I would like to see are.

Cockpit Fires.
Oil on the Canopy.
Bullet Holes in the Canopy.
Dead Gauges.
Engine Fires.

After Connection and ballistics, DAMAGE MODEL will choose the next great WWII Aircraft Sim.
