V 1.11/htc

Over the years I haven't exactly been a "model customer" here.  Indeed, more often than not I am critical of Aces High and occasionally critical of HTC itself.  Nobody can honestly accuse me of being an "AH brown-noser" or "cheerleader".

That said, I want to say something positive.

As is not uncommon with updates, there are a number of people complaining about 1.11, mainly because it lacks the "toys" that people have come to expect in a new version (maps/planes).

I have no complaints.  I have only a big THANK YOU for HTC.  Most if not all of the content in 1.11 has been requested by customers for a long time, ranging from the HQ-protector Me-163 to the improved netcode to the icon size toggle to the perk balance system.

The changes to Aces High might not be as apparent as in versions past, but IMO 1.11 does far more to improve AH than another new map or a couple planes would have.

Now, like I said I haven't exactly been the best customer or BBS resident, but that doesnt change one basic fact:

I greatly appreciate the effort you guys make.

I know what comes with running and working for a small business.   It has its rewards, but it's far from being a bed of roses.  Sometimes it sucks.   I might be critical of you and your product at times, but I can still see the big picture--HTC is an excellent little company that truly cares about its customers.  Yours is a labor of love.

Thank you for the update.  Merry Christmas HTC.

Seconded, Jab.

It takes a lot of work to get a release out, and one that fundamentally improves the game mechanics (netcode, play balancers like perks, etc.) will never be as flashy as lots of new planes or terrains.  Nevertheless, they will have a greater and lasting impact.

Also, HTC's subscriber base (based on what I can see in arena numbers) has been steadily growing.  That means that many more people complaining. :)  On UBBs people tend to be naysayers rather than positivists, in my experience.  It's a lot easier to squeak and whine when you're practically anonymous than it is to say something constructive...

Anyhoo, I'm still looking forward to the mission arena.  Also, kudos to Kanttori for the new Finland map in the CT.  Rolling Hurricanes off grass fields and trying to come in for a landing without clipping trees is fun. :)

Cheers,
phaetn
