Take note though, you must have DX8 to use this new driver.

Do not load it if you are still using DX7.

Skuzzy,

I used GeForce 256 Pro and I bought Radeon several days ago. Though Radeon is pretty nice card, it provides very very low FR when I'm playing over smoky field.   GeForce 256 wasn't so bad.

How can I boost performance when flying over smoky field? (Skurj and Whels said you know way to boost peformance of Radeon than GF2MX)

My PC is
Pen3-900
512MB RAM
Radeon 64MB VIVO
Driver 4.13.7075
DX8.0A

Thanks,
Mitsu

S!

Mitsu!Disable Vertical sync and get RadeonTweaker from www.rage3d.com  I use it and get 30-150FPS in 1024x768 32-bit with farthest terrain visibility.Haven't tested AH with the new 7075 yet,but worked OK with 3DMark2001.7089 drivers were a bit buggy IMO.

Beware of disabling V-synch.

It works for some folks.  For others it seems to cause problems with gunnery.  Test it in AH.

Funny, I did just get ATI Radeon 64mb VIVO and with newest drivers (official, supported ones) to test AH and it hardly cared about smoke.
I had to close through 3 very close smoke clouds to get FPS drop below 20 (and that was just less than split second time).
Otherwise runs ~24 FPS over totally smoked field near the smokes and slightly away +30 FPS
One smoke does not even drop FPS below 40. (I get +70 in clear conditions)

Mitsu,..before disabling vertical sync.  Read these 2 articles on my site
 http://www.benchdata.com/hints/install.html

and
 http://www.benchdata.com/hints/vsync.html

Also, if you have anti-aliasing enabled, disable it.

I have not tried the latest drivers with DX8, but will be doing so soon.
Also, leave the Z-Buffer depth set to 16;24 without 8 bit stencil.

I just added DX8 and the new drivers to my PC and they didnt make a big diffrence to my FPS. I get around 30+ fps on the runway with everything smoking. Flying around I get 50+. The human eye cant tell the diffrence in FPS in anything above like 21 FPS.

I had trouble with my ATI when I first put it in getting good FPS and a few things helped me getting it to where it is now Mitsu.Skuzzy helped alot and my squaddies. I couldnt get all the old 3DFX drivers out so my ATI could run right. I had to try several diffrent thing. Make sure! you switch it to standard VGA before removing old drivers. Remove the drivers and add the new ones in Safe Mode(I dont know why this makes a diffrence but it does, heard about it from a squaddie and it worked for me). After that I had no problem and I get food FPS in 32 bit color 1024 res. I can go higher and still get good FPS but I only have a 17" monitor.

LLB OUTR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
