Charon: Miko, I was actually referring to the entire series.
I know. I just wanted to take a jab at the labor unions...
The federation technology seemed just too superior and all-encompassing, and it was too easy to manufacture a convenient solution to most problems. I'm catching a lot more on reruns these days though.
Have to disagree here. At least compared to the original series TNG was less about technology and daring and more about mental work - ingenuity, solving moral dilemmas facing responcibility.
Of course when you want to make a plot based on ingenuity and moral dilemmas attractive to a mass audience, you have to seriously dumb it down - so it will not come out right for some people burdened by wit and education. With the original series we had a dumb cartoon but at least we did not expect to see more.
That is besides the fact that TNG is a blatant communist propaganda. Central authority. No money or choice apparent in the Federation, no mention of competition or commercial freedom. The only free market types are either deranged loners, criminals or ridiculous Ferenghee selling their mothers.
