The Portability of Video Cards and Memory
« on: December 18, 2002, 11:05:23 AM »
So here's he deal fellars...I'm going to spend a week+ with my parents in Sunny florida.  My Pops got a rather low-end machine somthing like a 500mzh processor etc.  I want to unplug my GeForce4 Ti4200 and a block of 500megs of memory so I can bring it with me and play there.  The memory and video card kinda scare me..taking them on the plane with me and all.  Is there any issue about sending them through the X-ray machine and all.  How robust are they traveling and are they any limits on traveling  with these electronic devices..

My 550 mhz machine won't accept that much RAM. YMMV.

You probably won't have any trouble transporting it, but I dunno if you've got the right memory for your parents' machine.  And your folks may have a storebought model with a hardwired vid card. Plus there are all those video drivers to download and install, not to mention the countless updates to get the software working.  Plus reinstall everything afterwords so it works perfectly.
You're better off at the beach or hanging with your folks.
