Why, in my younger days, we had to DRAW our own cartoons for entertainment! :D  Thats right, we didn't have fancy pens or pencils, we used our own blood to draw with!.  Of course, that was after doing chores that lasted until 11pm at night!

Wanna be disappointed?  Go buy the Space: 1999 TV Series on DVD, on the drive home, daydream about those cool spaceships hovering and landing on the moon and the neat ole staple-gun like little laser guns they had.  Get home, watch one episode, giggle at the bad 70s hair-do's and costumes...then try to stomach these episodes.  Aiieeeee!  I bought all 3 Packs that has like 9 episodes in each Pack...and I just....can't....watch....them....

hehe, I preordered those DVD sets, except for set 5.  When set 4 got here, it reminded me how much I hated the whole Southern Cross series.  ;)  Eventually I'll get set 5 just to have them all.

I'd also like to have the original Macross series without the Harmony Gold addons.  There are spots in the "Robotech" version that were added in by HG that are just awful animation compared to the original Japanese animation.  Be nice to see how the original was intended to look and how the storyline went on that one.

Nifty is right... I used to watch when it came out on TV here while I was in the fifth grade.  Had the chicken pox so I HAD to stay home and watch it :)  However years down the road I find out that "Robotech" is treated as an abomination by the Japanese anime fans of the original Macross series.  The "Southern Cross" and final series with the "Invid" are in fact separate anime series which shared only transforming mecha with the Macross series.  They were just grafted into (hacked up) a storyline by Harmony Gold.

It would be great if you could find the original Macross series and enjoy it in it's original form.  Including Japanese voices with English subtitles (sorry, the English dubbing sounds corny to me in most cases).  There are REAL sequels to Macross and are very good too from what I hear (Macross II, Macross Plus, etc.).  The last was called Macross 7 I think - one of the mechs is a transformable F/A-117 looking deal, and Max & Miria from the first series once again make an appearance.  Also, each series has a "condensed" version in the form of a movie.  I liked the movie version more than the series version of Macross (It is called Macross: Do You Remember Love?).

JB73:

If that toy is in good condition, it may bring you some $$.  Not sure tho.  I know a friend of mine spent a whole lot of $$ on re-issues of the Japanese originals.

Submarine?

Well there was Starblazers, which was a Japanesse destroyer (sunk in WW2) that was "remade" to be a spaceship to save the Earth from the evil Gamalons (ship was called "Argo").  Featured a great "wave motion gun"

I think our Destroyer in Aces High should have it as a perk!
