It was reported this morning that heart attacks increased 25% in GB after England was beaten by Argentina in the 1998 World Cup.

It would seem that soccer is dangerous and causes an unacceptable number of deaths.

you yanks have got it backwards, you call football something that you throw, catch and run with.

hands is not a foot, well in the other english speaking countries it isn't, maybe an american thing.

We run with our feet carrying a ball, hence "football".

Who says the game must be called after the body part that is used to immediately propell the ball?

I would personally call it after the bodypart that decides which way the ball should be propelled - "headball" or more precisely "brainball".

soccer is one step up from kickball -

for those to wimpy for pads, to uncoordinated to bat and too short to dribble

I just did not want to go more specific than "brain". But if I did, who's to say I would call it "Frontal Cortex Ball"?

Ok, well English is the result of 10% Latin(Romans), 5% Galic(Natives), about 70% German (Saxons), and a little French (Normans) mixed in for good measure. Which one were you refering too?

I like watching Soccer.

Anyways, Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year. Im leaving for a snowboard trip now.
