Disco's and perk planes.

[rant]
It aint funny any more.

3 times now I've managed to disco while flying an Arado.  Once was my ISP, the other 2 were connection probs (yesterday for example......traceroute looped in the 64. range, couldnt reconnect for 30 mins).

Losing the perk points for a disco is all well and good cos otherwise dweebs will alt-f4 the second they're in any danger.......but what about us poor Europeans who have to put up with dodgy transatlantic links?

To make my feelings perfectly clear on the subject I'd just like to say:  AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGH HHHHHHHHH!!!!!

S!

I also have had enuf of discos,so that's why I don't fly perkies anymore. Was really frustrating to lose an Arado on touch down after succesfull mission to a disco   And those who complain about 70ms ping..get a life(don't take it too seriously)  We European players suffer from 170ms ping most of the time...And when using ping plotter the "reason" for bad latency is usually at verio.net or another US server.

I know what you mean. I got a new video card and it crashes the machine sometimes when i use the text buffer. I lost my first tempest to a computer crash. I had been very carefull in it not to loose it. 14 odd kills without loss and all rtb and nearly as many sorties in it. i guess i got to sort that problem out.

i share your pain swoop.

Hey Swoop, just go 'cross the street, prep yourself a Salad and you'll forget all about it

This is actually the thing that scares me most (loosing-perk-wise) I am quite a Disco stu myself...

Not to sound conspiratorial, but these days the only times I ever get discoed are when I'm in a perk plane... every single time, except one, that I've taken a perkie, I've gotten the boot.

So I don't bother with them anymore.

Discos suck. My computer froze while I was on finals in my arado. It took me ages to get the 17 perk points need to get one again.

Personally, the whole perk thing...pooie!
Don't I pay for this thing?

<Picture an HTC owned McDonalds>  May I have a packet of Catsup please miss?
Due to the abuse of Catsup packets by certain people who think it's funny to smash them on the floor, we have instituted a perk system.

Sorry sir, you don't have enough perks. The cost of 1 packet of catsup is 70 perks.  However, you may earn perks by buying large quantities of fries.

The formula to figure out how many fries is: X * Fry Value = perks. And if you don't choke on the fries, then you can multiply that by 1.25... THAT'S like 25% more perks free!
What they don't tell us, is the value of X is equal to 40 Large Fries, and Fry Value depends on how much food you order with it, and that you get fewer points if you "Eat in" vs. "Carry out."

JUST GIVE ME THE CATSUP!!!

cc Dowding, I too don't mess with perkies anymore. Everytime i decide to take a ride in a perk i got discoed.
So for me the best solution is never again to mess with perk points (don't care how many points i have) or to fly a perk. On the other side I pay my $30 like everybody else, so why can I not use the hole Planeset?
My oppinion is that the perks are a bad Idea.
Ok flamers, come on...

PS Im playin this game (yes it is a game) for relaxin from a hard day at work and because i love Airplanes.
Im not payin my money to get upset and angry. For that I got my mother-in-law.

Sorry for my poor English

Yeah... I'll go to Mickey D's with you if you ask for a packet of catsup. I'll laugh my bellybutton off too when they look at you and tell you to get the hell out of Mickey Ds.

It's KETCHUP!!!! at both Wendy's and Mickey D's. Unless you're European.. then you're just wierd.

Aha!.
The APM-A (anti-perks movement army)is starting to react.
Pity that it is due to your frustation about discoes when using them.
As a matter-of-fact you are not againts the perk really, you are all upset by the way you lost them.
The APM-A will have now to convience HTC of his wrong move.
Do you know that IL-II Sturmmovik is starting beta-testing?.
Somebody is about to pass the Ketchup.

I want to share my pain too
Yesterday I grabbed Ar232 to kill ASAP 2 FH. Discoed - no biggy - Swoop was there and we chated a little about it. No whine - watermelon happenes. Upped in Arado to acomplish the mission and got discoed again!!! 140 points went in a matter of 5 minutes. Now I didnt even came back to MA - I decided to wake up my neighbors at 3:40 AM.  Now because of AH i will most likely to look for another appartment
It shouldnt happened in the first place but since it did I shouldnt loose 140 points.
140 points = 20-30 sorties = 700 - 900 minutes online
900 minutes of hard work that worth 2 discoes in 5 minutes....

Duh just read HiTech saying that if you were undamaged prior discoed you loose only 1/2 points. Maybe I did lost only 70 instead 140? should go check it
Maybe if this true I will go appologies to my neighbors
<S> all and dont loose your perkies
