I first came to AH late in last August... the manual is quite a LOT to take in in one go... there are still gaps in my knowledge to this day. Reading it helps of course to get started more or less prepared.
I'm not too annoyed by cries like 'how do I start the engine?' more slightly amused. It is good to see that most people still try to help newbies.
In my very early days I was flying around in a Fw-190 and was concerned about my fuel. As we all know the gauge is not visible in the default cockpit view in the Fw-190. I asked on channel 1 how to find the gauge, got some 'witty' replies but also the advice on how to use the view keys to be able to look. Ah, more than enough fuel left... and I could proceed by chasing and killing a Corsair. To this day I hope it was one of the guys with the 'alt-F4' humour *g*.
