Well, I just got home, and the wife informed me I'm controversial again. Now that I've been here and had a good laugh, please allow me to apologize for being the indirect cause of a disturbance.

See, I spell my name MYERS, not MEYERS. The posts attributed to me in the "Some concerns" thread are forgeries. But its true I probably provoked someone to create them.

I was recently cc'ed to an e-mail thread circulated within the AW community that discussed what I felt was an attempt at an unethical act of subterfuge against your community here. I replied the thread, telling these people in strong terms I felt their actions showed extreme disrespect to the current AH community. I asked them to remove me from the circulation, and told them I was so pissed about what they were proposing that I just *might* post their stuff here.

I considered doing so, because my initial inclination was that you good folks deserve to know what's being discussed behind your backs. But, I decided that it would be inappropriate for me to do so, given my current employment as a representative of Air Warrior. I saw that it would of course be seen in the wrong light, as me trying to cause trouble.

I did e-mail one member of your community here and tell him about it, a man of unimpeachable character who I trust to hold the welfare of both communities as sacred. I did so because I trust him to evaluate the matter, decide if it should be discussed here or not, and handle it discretely. I'm certain this clumsy forgery was not his. For one thing, he's too literate a man to have made such blatant spelling mistakes. For another, the posts don't accurately reflect what I conveyed to him.

I'm certain someone who didn't like me flaming him in the AW mail circulation did this in order to try to cause trouble for me. While I really could care less about that (the actions of backbiters are of no concern to me) I regret that this dispute between me and members of the AW community spilled over here.

Those who know me well know that above all else, I respect community. I've made my share of enemies, but its because I don't hesitate to speak my mind and stand firm for what I feel is right, plus denounce that which I feel is wrong. But no one can truthfully say they've ever seen me do anything to be destructive to a community. Community is what's worthwhile in games such as we all enjoy, and it goes farther than business interest. We all of us should respect that.

I'll not be posting here any more, so long as I'm employed by the competition. I just wanted to allow ya'll to know this was the work of a troublemaker, and apologize for the role I had in causing it to happen. Anyone who'd like to discuss the matter further is welcome to e-mail me at the address posted in my profile.

HiTech, special apoligies to you. You've worked hard to build a community here, and it deserves to be respected. That, after all, was the point I tried to make to the AW folk, when I inadvertantly caused one of 'em to do this.

To my friends in Aces High, never think I begrudge you being here. There is, IMHnsdweebO, no such thing as "competition" where community is concerned. Businesses compete in the marketplace, but communities either co-exist or don't. I like to think we can all respect each other enough to not allow our choice of products to interfere with our friendships.

~S~ all, and keep the greasy side down

I take things I read at face value first then I decide whether or not there is merit to what was written. I may be somewhat gullible but this post by Mr. Myers appeared to me to be an honest explanation of what transpired to cause a controversial post and to explain that he was not part of it.

Why the negative responses to it?

AH community doesn't care about what people talk behind their backs because thats what it all is, just talk..

Even if there are a few points worth correcting in this product, they're known and accepted.. Life goes on.

People slam competition only to make themselves feel better. Or when aggravated to do so..

Personally I have never even seen AW in action nor do I know anyone belonging to the community so for me it's the same what people there say or think.

I would appear that the real Kelly Myers has found himself in the un-enviable position of getting caught up in the wrong email stream at the wrong time. Either an Aw disgruntled with him did a magificent job impersonating him (sure had me convinced. then again I have several reasons that would have clouded my judgment) here to get him in trouble @ EA.com or a disgruntled AWier decided he would bite the bullet and say what he though KM's was trying to say, for him.

Either way I hope both stay with AWier and tat we here can just move on after this umpleasantness was fostered upon us.

Either way, I think it is time for HTC to eliminate the tiered pricing structure or implement it properly and across the board.

To offer the identical service to others at dramatically lower prices was a huge screw up and caused much controversy. Now they appear to be doing it yet again.

HTC should have learned from their mistake before. People who have been loyal and with this sim from the buggy and feature-slim beginning deserve more than being shoved to the back of the line and expected to subsidize any player grabs from competing sims.

Regardless of where this information came from, I find it disturbing.

HTC - When do we get fair and equitable pricing?

There is no "tiered" pricing scheme.  HTC did a marketing test one time.  To get valid results they had to have the customer making a real decision, hence the permanent deal.  They simply had to do this to get the information they needed to effectively manage their business.  Disagree all you want, but it's their livelyhood on the line here and their decision.

Just because somebody posts a big string of toejam on this BBS it doesn't mean it's true.  Heck, I doubt HTC has heard anything about this, it certainly doesn't seem that way after reading the entire thread.  This was a "proposal" some folks were thinking about making to HTC, not an offer HTC accepted or anything HTC even knew about as far as I can tell.  That's all supposing that any of what was written was true... which is far from certain.

You have a simple decision to make.  Is this game worth $30/mo to you?  If it is, great.  If it isn't, shame, been nice knowing ya.  If you quit because "life isn't fair", well... that's your decision too.  Sometimes things happen so that somebody benefits just because they got lucky, it's the way of things.  Life isn't fair.  If you spend your time revolting against all the "unfair" things in life, you'll be a busy boy.  Good luck with that.  I hope you choose to spend your time shooting me down in Aces High instead.
