I had speakers/ headphones and a separate mic connected to 2 adjacent jacks on my SB live value sound card. Just got a RadioShag headset-style computer mic and a not sure how to connect it to the sound card ports to enable both headphones and mic combo. I think there are 4 ports. It has a separate cord with a battery as well. The instructions are minimal and assume I have a brain...well i use to... any help out there pilots?

Red or pink goes to Mic input on SB, if color coded it will be red or pink also.

Headphones go where speakers used to go. Or if speakers have a jack into that.

Hey 6, A Ghosth said, Red/Pink goes to the Mic in on the sound card and Black goes to the Speaker Out on the sound card. One other thing tho. If you want to use external speaker, you might need to get a y-cord. Radio Shack has 'em for prolly $4-$6USD, and the can be found almost anywhere that computer speakers are sold (in stores or on-line). When you get one, plug it into the Speaker Out on the sound card, then plug the Black headset lead into one y-cord jack, and the speakers into the other y-cord jack. I do this so that I have to have my speakers turned on while flying AH. This way, the wife can sleep in peace and i don't get any feedback thru the mic. :-)

right now i have a wire to splitter from the card that goes to speakers/headphones. The old mic is plugged into the mic input on the sound card.

The new headset has one beige rca miniplug and comes with a separate battery powered black cord also with a mini plug and on/off switch. I assume the mini beige goes to the mini female black and I'm still left with only one plug to plug somewhere. Am i wrong, or just nutz? The instructions plug the beige into the black, and the black into the 'receiver'?

I've tried the cord alone or in series with the black power cord into each sound card hole and heard nada through its headphones. How can a headset/mic have only one plug?
no Red no Pink?

It's going back. Even they (RS) thought it was weird to have only one plug. More later...well maybe not... see ya inda ayr..h2h i.e.

in the spirit of full disclosure i may be an idiot. The mic headset was just that. The things I thought were headfones were holders. It was just a mic. hahhahahahahahah I exchanged them for a really nice set of headfones/mic. They did an even exchange, but I later found out that my daughter paid $10 bucks for the originals. I must go back there and surrender $20 more buckaroos.....
