I think my first was early late 41 or early 42. Had the Panzer3 with the short 50.

I cant wait for tigers!

lol I am going to start a US one soon.

Pretty mush as soon as you get the Tiger things go downhill for the germans right? By 43 they really where losing the war.

Speaking of Matrix games, have you guys not noticed that other game by them that is gaining popularity in leaps and bounds?

"Uncommon Valor: Campaign for the South Pacific" is so popular, they keep running out of stock!

It is a fabulous game of operational level combat of the Guadalcanal/New Guinea campaign from May 1942-Jan 1944. You guys should check it out, and take a look at the UBB, found here: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=11

If you are even remotely interested in the War in the Pacific theater, you need this game. It is the perfect game for PBEM, too. I am involved in 4 games at the moment, and am having a ball.

BTW, that is where I learned about SPWaW, and I'm going to download that and give that a try this weekend.

Ah, it's good to know that wargaming is alive and well. :)

I have been trying to get my hands at UV, but they have been sold out for quite some time now. At the same time I dont have the heart to download it from kazaa or something...I mean I've spent almost 2 years as a betatester for SPWAW, it would feel like stealing.

Anyway, you should keep your eyes open for the next title they are releasing, Combat Leader. Turn based with a completely self made engine, its the sequel to spwaw one might say, but there has been an enormous amount of work put down in "softer" issues like morale, command and control, initiative. And at the same time one of the two main guys behind matrix is a real realism freak when it comes to armor and penetration, I swear that guy could write a paper on ww2 ballistics and win the nobel prize or something hehe, anyway, the entire damage-armor/penetration/fire effects on soft targets-model for CL is UN-believable.

CL is about to hit beta, and they are aiming at release Q2-Q3 2003.

You should start hanging out in the forum I suppose. Do a little back-reading and you'll get a good idea of the game concept.

Is there a manual or something somewhere?

Downloading from Sweden at 120kb/s :)

Can't get to patch though - any alternative sites for that?

The manual is a .pdf included in the download.

7.1 is the final version. No bugs left, no more features possible to add (Matrixgames deal with SSI (or whoever it was that owned the code) prohibited certain aspects to be changed)  Anyway, trust me, they've come a long way since v2.1 (I think it was 2.1) when I discovered it :)

Alright thanks Hortlund. I've never played it so might be fun.

Annoying thing about Internet Explorer: you dl the file into a temporary one, then it compies that towhatver dl position you've chosen - effectively ensuring that you need twice as much drive space for the dl. It's very annoying on big files such as this.

7.1 might be the last version, but on the downloads page it says there's a patch for 7.1, but it's a bad link.

Anyone know where I can get that patch?

That patch is if you have another version other then 7.1 (the patch is for versions 6.1 or higher and brings you up to 7.1).

If you Dl'd the complete 7.1 thats all you should need AFAIK.
