Guys please be nice!  I mean don't be a pack of Barneys or anything lame but there's been too many "RTFM"'s and "AW dweeb" being seen online. Alot of these guys are looking for a new home as the old one's caving in. Imagine if it had been WB's or FA?

Alot of these guys been around a looong time and will give you a run for your money very shortly.

So I'm 'axsking' ya. As a fellow AHer, have a heart?

THEN pull the trigger.

no matter where you go there you are

embrace the newbies and help them with their questions and troubles.
it will make the sting they feel from being shot down a lot so much less insulting.

I seem to recall there not being very many easy targets in this game, that being said I believe it's a game anyone can learn to play very well. the newbies learn to play the game and get much more enjoyment from it once they get proficient in playing it.

however their first impressions of Aces High will always stay with them. if all they get on their first days playing as they are trying to keep up with the airplane is insults they wont stick around to overcome the learning curve and all these so called "experts" insulting and not helping the new guy will only be missing out on an easy target while the newbie keeps learning instead of quitting.

forrest for the trees eh?
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

What Citabria said

I really hope newbies can get an easy start in this game - we need more people online from different timezones  <xenophobic flamesuit on> - 30 people online in MA when I log on after work here in Norway is slightly depressing.

I'd really like to recruit some friends of me (easy targets like me  ), but the current state of the open channel would prolly put them off after a few hours. It's not foul language or references to our mothers alternate professions that will scare them away (most Norwegians are way more foulmouthed than Americans), but instead the endless stream of accusations of stupidity, dweebery and cheating on the open channel.

I know some of us just hate it when "URGENT: I NEED HELP WITH BOMBER" scrolls by in the buffer and deprives you of the attention you need for that split-second snapshot. Instead of snapping back at them on ch 1, go private and tell them to "please" stay lowercase, and preferably try the TA first. It's not personal advice and constructive critisism on the private channel that will put them off, but being exposed to the community as a "dweeb" and a "teenage quaker" on channel 1.

I know (and feel) the need to vent when u get shot down, but at least do the manly thing and tell them in the face (i.e. in private) and not on ch. 1.  It's like writing bad stuff about someone u dislike on the lavatory wall instead of kicking his bellybutton after school.

.. is imo a valid option   Not all people are created equal, hence no rule applies to everyone... Surely some technical mumbojumbo like tuning newbies radio to an online trainer the first few flights or likewise (killshooter brings up help pages etc.   )could be implemented?  Maybe me saying u did a gallant and admirable thing by trying to help a newbie makes u do it again?  Maybe we all can hold hands and ... <BigUC carried away by mental health professionals>

StSanta      The "dot" commands are not as easy to figure out or remember for someone that is not used to them.

If you want to answer questions, do.  If you don't, don't.  If you are self-rightous about your familiarity with the interface, then from now on ask no more questions yourself, as the questions below have come from a lot of experienced "RTFM" shouters.

Reminds me a lot of 1.05...

AHVet: How do you get to the carrier?

AHVet: How do you select loadouts on the carrier?

AHVet: How do you land on the carriers?

AHVet: How do you take off on the carrier?

AHVet: How do you get in the gun turret?

AHVet: How do you aim the ship guns?

AHVet: How do you shoot flak?

AHVet: How do you take control of the carrier?

AHVet: How do you steer the CV?

AHVet: What is a CV?

or 1.06.....

AHVet: How do you spend your perk points?

AHVet: How do you fire the RATO?

AHVet: When and how do my perk points disappear?
