1. Clouds
2. Doppler sound. With MITSUs pack, the best overall sound in any flight sim ever.
3. Jumping into a gun, be it a ground AA vehicle or a CV or a bomber gunner. easily and no fuss. Always wanted to be able to blast away as a gunner :)
4. In game voice comms
5. Aircraft skins which are part of the terrain file. Ie desert camo, late war, early war depending on the CT terrain...... awesome.
6. Graphic effect when shooting water or dirt.... just like gun camera footage.
7. Able to Alt-TAB to desktop 100% of the time without crashing.
8. Me163 rocket fighter. Ive always wanted to fly this little bird.
9. Perk system allows me to try 'advanced' aircraft at my own risk, without destabilizing the arena.

I could go on and on and on, this sim kicks butt, but these are my top 9 likes.

The Community!  Just look at this thread so far.... it even includes an adaptation of Favourite Things!  Great work, Toad....  :)

It is wonderful to see the community develop and grow.... some coming from AW and others from WB, and all merging together into one.

Just this morning, I was reminded of what a marvellous community this is when I received a small package in the post.  It was from Poland and contained a Christmas Card and a beautiful, hand-painted thimble from Warsaw..... it had been sent by Bikekil, as a thank you for the time we have worked together over the last year with him writing/planning the Sunday TODs and me being his Setup CM..... such a wonderful gesture from someone I have never met! (but would love to in due course!)  :D  I had mentioned during ICQ chats that I collected thimbles as a hobby.... this one will take pride of place in my collection as a constant reminder of this wonderful Aces High Community - thanks Bikekil!    ;)

Nice for once to hear the things folks love about Aces High, the whiners have had it their own way too much,we ARE playing THE best online air combat sim,WW2OL isnt even any competition,Warbirds is being killled by IEN (Imagine bringing out an UNFINISHED tank game when their air combat sim  has so many problems) Fighter Ace 3? (Bluegh!),I love the graphics in AH,some folks say they are dated now,but ya want graphics or playability?,someone mentioned the rush of seeing the hit sprites on a plane, theres nothing like a chase at low level, hopping over trees, down valleys and seeing those vital stikes and bits fly off,the graphics are great, just keep the new planes and stuff comin! :D
Oh,and the community is the best Ive come accross too (and you can include Wilbuz in that:D  )

Good post paxil!

All of the above plus

A: the best keymapping/joystick mapping utility I've ever seen. Period hands down

B AH voice, and the ability to tune someone private. This is the single biggest training tool imaginable.

C Support staff & Dev team that not only care, they listen. Priceless and the real reason I made the switch 3 years ago.

D: Squad Mates, AH friends, & classy oponents. These  are a WAY too many to mention yet without them AH wouldn't be the same.

I use AH as a stress relief - not a stress-enhancer.

Fun to fly, always a challenge to me. If I get bored with one aspect, I move to another.

Lots of good people, enjoy how quickly someone can join in the chatter and, if acting civil, be embraced as a member of the community. Enjoy the banter with squaddies.

I also actually enjoy how quickly our less socially capable players are quickly sniffed out. LOL

Lots of fun.

It's been a great year for Aces High, I did a small review on my squad site here Things that have stood out this year for me were the great events created by the CM crew, the impact voice comms made on these and the regular arena's, the custom maps that made scenario's so much more immersive and the constant development that HTC has done to keep Aces High the only real choice in online flight simming but above all the thing that has made Aces High so great in 2002 are the guy who fly with me at No.9 the commradery and the infectious enthusiasm for this great sim and the many frends I've made this year online to you

My enjoyment of Aces High increases exponentially when you have a few friends on Squadron channel even though we really don't fly as a tight tactical unit in the MA.  It's just not the same when I'm flying alone.  So I guess that is a biggie for me.

I look forward to HTC's effort at a "Mission Arena" though I have my reservations at how well the members will utilize it.

LOL great one toad! My wife is going to sing it for me. I will record it and put it up for all to enjoy. :)

I also like...

Calling hitech and pyro at home to tell them what AC the CM's want next then threating to walk if I don't get what I want.  ;)

and...

- All my squadies and others I enjoy flying with.
- The CM group and all their hard work.
- Tooth and nail dogfights in one life events.
- The CT.
- GV's and the other options we have in AH.
- A sim that is always growing and changing.

I remember telling HT at one time 'Add the Typhoon and I won't whine about anything else.'

It's been pretty much true. AHVoice just rules though. It's an amazing addition IMO.

That said, the Hurri IID's still porked ;)

Some more 'loose rivets' in 2003 would make me very happy :)

At least one Loose Rivets is in the making, though it might not be finished for a while. It'll probably end up being my way of 'relaxing' without leaving the flat whilst revising for exams when back in Nottingham. It won't be a JPG or a GIF.

This list would be too long ... BUT

The "view" system is second to none.

AH Voice/Vox is also an incredible addition to AH since I started flying.

Constant inovation especialy in game play.
Learning so much about my passion from this BBS and the game.

The things I am most impressed with in the game.
View system.
The gunnery system. (within 500 yards, its a little generous outside 500..)

When I play other games..no matter what they have in the way of eye candy or what ever...its those two things that make me feel out of water.

As a programmer I would be most interested in seeing the bones of the game...That we probably neve notice...Must be rock solid to take such additions and still purr along most of the time.
