Whats with the 163??
« on: December 30, 2002, 10:18:45 AM »
I've flown it a few times with no real problems.  Last night though, I out-ran a couple of them in a 262 with no real problems, that was a bit of a suprise... correct though?  Just wondering.  Further... at least twice I had 163's zoom past me, pull up and suddenly pop!  (Kinda funny really... ZOOM....BOOOM!!) Felt sorry for the poor pilots.

.....is there a bug or what?

P.S.  On both occasions the 163's appeared to have safely pulled out of thier dive and were well on thier way back up before exploding... near verticle.

The 163 has no trouble breaking the pilot g-limits.  After patch1 it's hard to kill the pilot with positive G's, but pilot-killing negative G's are still incredibly easy to hit, all it takes is a slight stickmovement at speed.

The best way to fly a 163 is to rocket up to a high altitude, then cut the engines and BnZ with gliding passes, you want to conserve fuel as much as possible.  When I feel I'm at a safe altitude above the enemy, I can get fairly slow, so given that, it's very possible in your 262 that you might bounce a few slow 163's with their engines off.
