IY won't be utsourced to India. Some stuff will be, but far from all.

A company wants to keep its core business practices/model within itself. This includes IT, and at least here lots of big and medium companies have their own IT department. Whqat they do won't be outsourced because it'd be suicide for the company to do so.

The IT business will recover. The stock market was idiotic to buy the dot com deal and whenever the economy slows, IT is one of the areas hit hardest. OTOH, when the economy is good, people are practically throwing money at you. I'd definitely get a degree - get an advanced degree in something difficult and math intensive, and no matter how slow the economy is, you'll find a well paid job. It's us programmers (Bs) etc who have it tough right now, not the Phd's and Ms dudes.
