Spitfire Guns?
« on: December 31, 2002, 04:49:06 AM »
I am reading a book called, Johnnie Johnson "Spitfire Top Gun" and in the book it mentions that the cannon armed Spitfire could fire machine guns only, cannons and machine guns,  cannons only anyone got any more data on this?

As it seems to work on a 3 positioned switch/trigger, I did not realise that the Spitfire had this?

btw the book is very good reading:).

Looking at Spitfire manuals, the manual for the SpitV says this:

This would appear to be the three position button in a spit IX

How exactly do you hold that ring grip?

It allows you to easily use both hands when the stick forces are high(at speed) or you can switch hands, which means you can readily access all the controls on either side of the cockpit. It's similar to the yoke on the P38 in this way.
