The Draft
« on: December 31, 2002, 01:20:00 PM »
Congressman Rangel is voicing his opinion that we start a National draft. His feelings are that a drafted army would be harder to send to war then a volunteer army. He also believes that a draft would put the rich kids of America in harms way and lead to more wealthy Americans protesting potential military conflicts like Iraq, Korea.

Personally I think he is trying to push the race and class divide even harder than he normally does, but....Is a draft a good idea for America?

Not having served in the military I don't have any personal experience to draw on, but I do think the military seems to be well served by the people who do volunteer and that a draft would not accomplish Congressman Rangel's goals.

I really am curious about how our current and ex military personnel feel about it.
