109 pilots strafing Poles in chutes is historically correct. They did it from day 1 of WW2.

It's expected to happen in The Main Arena but a TOD with only one life anyway. Until that incident, Did have a lot of respect for the individual and his unit but from now on that has totally changed my opinion of him and his unit.

It is too bad we cant seem to hang on to a bit more of chivalry in "event" flying than the MA crowd has (or does not have). Oh well. As a rule I dont shoot parachutes, I did make an exception once, after one of my own was strafed in a previous frame of a Scenario.

And there are always the "well they did in WW2 yada yada" yes thats true, but the point is, its a matter of civility between the 2 sides, and I see nothing wrong with having some?. We dont have to stoop to the lowest level just because we can.

I remember a BoB 1940 event, where I shot the oil out of a 109E, and chased him all over southern england before he tried to land his dead stick bird. I let him go, and just circled overhead, rather than kill him, which I easily could have. I got a from him on ch 1. and it felt pretty good. Its a game right? we aren't real enemies.

I don’t shoot chutes for two reasons.
1 – It upsets some people
2 – I want to save my bullets for “real” targets

I could not care less if someone chutes me. I usually get a good laugh out of it if is one of the FDB’s or someone I know.

It is quite unfortunate that some get so upset about this. It is also quite understandable why they do given their family history or friends they may know. Maybe they had a grand parent who was straffed. Nevertheless some players will continue to shoot chutes and enjoy upsetting those who are sensitive about it.

It would be pointless for me to construct a rule that we can’t enforce. I also think it would be inane and somewhat anal of me to spend time asking HTC for a tool to enforce no chute shooting.

This is a “game in real life” where just as in “real life” you had chute shooters. They can be controlled by a squads C.O. if he chooses to, but nothing more.

Shoot my chute any time in the MA. But I dont think its the right thing to do in events. Its one thing if you have a bonified spy chute sitting near a enemy base. But another thing all together killing some guy in his chute after he allready bailed out of a one life event. Of coarse this is just my opinion the chute shooters will continue no matter how much you post about it. The only joy they seem to get outta life is taking any joy outta yours. The best way to beat them is not to play.

When I first flew AH I was very anti chute shooting, but after sometime I learned that some chutes 'spy'.

So now I always shoot down chutes that I come across.

I was that 109

When will I get my prize IceMAW?

Sorry if this upsets anyone, but in a environment like TOD the info these spies pass on can be of considerable importance.

PS sorry for the fessing up delay but I only heard of this thread during last nights TOD.

If you are talking about Skernsk, he is in the FDBs who habitually chute shoot.

If you are talking about me, I don't know you, so I don't see how you came to the above statement?

LOL Gray I didnt know what you where talking about at first now I remember my post from long ago when I was killed in TOD chute. Chute shooter medal's what was the medal for your first chute. HMM was it the oder of the chute.

Seriously tho how about giving the chute time to hit the ground and end out before we kill them. That would seem to be a compromise that everyone could live with and or die with.

In my private opinion chute shooting sucks... but you 've made some very good point about possibility of spying after being downed. It's not pointless...

in a RL you had a radio in your plain that you could use to transmit some informations... once you bailed succesfully you was alive but WITHOUT any communication equipment.

In AH you still have a radio and still can transmitt a lot of information that sometimes can be really important. That is not historically accurate and can be dangerous for your opponents.

While i was thinking about chute shooting i wasn't thinking about this aspect and potential threat. Prolly i would never realise that there are a rewason for shooting a chute down but now i see that there can be one!

I never shoot chutes, but if I have to do it in a situation that the chute could have the time spying on our Force, thats another story;).

During the furball at 32 last sunday an axis chute stayed on the water for some time.............

I naturally assumed he was check 6'ing his comrades.........

equally he could have just been enjoying the show.........

I was on the water at 32 after I bailed out of my Spitfire. I swam to shore. And I might have called a few 6's and radioed info on enemy Ju 52 positions.
