First sorties of 2003...
« on: January 02, 2003, 10:05:52 PM »
Found a F4U in a spin, the poor bastage..Unfortunately I followed a La7 low and was jumped in a canyon...

Got in a small furball in a Spit V and Levi found me....

Cruising North a 15k in a Spit V six 51's came in high.....

But all of those are choices, I'm a dope..

But I would like to be the first of the New Year to say there isn't anything worse then starting afresh with a year layed out in front of you with pizza on the moniter...

My New Years resolution is to pass on pizza..

How was that ???

I tried to use a lot of nasal tone when saying it.

I have forgoten to use caps somewhere in this post and that was an oversite.

PIZZA SUCKS !!

Now I feel better.

And when the rest of the squad flys when pizza's gone, I'll tell'um I said so.

"Hopefully" tomorrow...

Please ??

First I got roped classic style in my La-5 and got mercilessly shot down... after this I reverted to my favourite mount (FM2), dove recklessly headlong into a furball above an NME field whilst flying aformentioned favourite mount. Got badly shot up but managed to land 5 very satisfying kills back on the carrier, even lured someone into the flak umbrella and got the kill :D After this I tried a D-Hog and renewed my dislike for it. Chased a couple of B-17's but was attacked by a well flown Mossie. I was not exactly low on E but really f*cked up, not used to a Corsair with an excess of E. Later I flew the FM2 again and got a proxy kill over the airfield.

Then I took off in a Kate but the tour was reset so I couldn't get anywhere.

My first kill in the new tour was in a Yak. Too easy, a straight flying Stuka who never noticed me. Only trouble was that I was so much faster, but still a straight easy kill. After that I saw a multitude of red dots approaching on radar and got airborne in a La-7. Not the right choice because the red dots turned out to be three formations of heavy bombers, 6 B17's and 3 Ju88's. Carefully stalked them and got two kills (crashes) when they tried to get away in the canyons. Then I was shot down by the gunners because I got too close avoiding a canyon wall myself. Quite a lot of swearing was going on by then.

Took off again and struggled to a few bombers in a Fw190-A8. Finally got close, blasted one while spraying unashamedly and then got blasted myself again by the gunners because they could spare some attention for me after shooting down one of the other attackers.

After this I laid a bit of waste to an NME airfield in a Panzer IV (after level bombing I now figured out GV gunnery as well). Got news of a Tiger over vox, saw one, shot at him and blew up. I never saw an icon so it might have been friendly :s

And pizza? What about it? I'm just a lonely gamer without a squad, I go looking for something and try to shoot it :D

If Pizza is up I think I'll start the tour with GV's. I have been working so I haven't been on yet.

Here's a film of my first sortie of the year.  I'm in a Stuka attacking the cruiser.  I manage to slip by the fighter defenses and successfully dive on the cruiser but I receive severe damage as I make my run.  I lost both wingtips, ailerons and right landing gear.  I manage to make it home using my rudders to turn my plane and land it.  Rolled off the pavement but still made it down in one piece.

Attack of the Stuka!

I had absolutely the best start to this year, or any tour for that matter.  I started off in the CT, was taking off in a Hurri.  I belatedly realized that the base was capped a lot closer than I had realized, and in trying to avoid a vulch I flew straight into the control tower.

[bows to the appreciative audience]  Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week.

My first REAL sortie was with the Firebirds, defending some godforsaken part of the pizza map.  It was a blast.  We were facing the same group of guys, and amongst other highlights we shot one guy down so often that me squaddie Witch suggested he was going to even things up by turning his monitor off.  We also got to see one of the MAW guys suicide his p38 into our base three times straight--we resupplied the base just so we could continue to watch him do it!

Happy New Year everyone, and good luck flying the unfriendly skies.

Decided to try something new... I'm trying to get a kill with every available fighter and after scoring the victory, successfully land it. It's been a lot of fun so far. I knocked out the first ten fighters yesterday and learned some things about the 109s and 110s.
