Why do folks not use perk planes?

No agenda, just curious as to why perk planes are so rare. I know there have to be a bunch of folks with a big bank of points.

Why I don't:

The big neon billboard that says "I'm a perk plane, please send every con in the grid to chase me."

This nagging feeling you're going to need them at some point.  I blew a couple thousand last version, but still hold 1500 in the bank so I always have that 262 bomber intercept option waiting.

I got a mess of bomber perks on the other hand because the IL2 is the only bomber fun for me to fly.

Yes but you have to balance that with the good advantage these planes provide.I fly them carefully(eg..like most pilots did in WW2)I usually have enough perks for a couple of rides,never more...

ive blown 8000 perk points on the 262

I dont fly the other perk planes because they are not worth the price.

but the 262 is worth its perkies. its deadly and nearly invincible

I fly the 262 a lot, I love it. Its the only perk plane worth the perks.

Still have 3200 perks in my bank, I dont fly it as often thanks to the instability of the server.

Just right now I was in a 6 kill sortie in me 262 and WHAM the server lost connect. It appears it went down for good, cant relog =(

When I see my net status flat or near flat, I consider flying it if I want. But when I see warpfesting and hyperactive net stat, no way im gonna hop in one.

So far server has been in between hyperactive and so-so. Probably the reason why im having a superrubber bullet syndrome.. even in the 262! Last night I had a b17 eat 20 rnds 30mm and it only had 1 engine smoking.

IMHO, except for the 262 their performance over the regular planes offered, late war, isn't that great.  AR234 can be caught by some of the faster non perk planes, the TA152 is great high, 30K and above, and the tempest is fast also and can maneuver, but a D9, Tiffie low, La7 and pony can get them in the right situation.  262 is boring to me. This my humble opinion of course.  When they offer the SR71 I'll spend them <G>

agreed.  the 262 is a blast and worth it's perk points.

of course, they sure eat away at those perkies when they're lost.

If you have blown 8000 points   on it, you should hardly say it is nearly invincible.

Let's see
Tour 21: Fester has 360 kills and has been killed 13 times in the Me 262.

Tour 22: Fester has 59 kills and has been killed 3 times in the Me 262.

Tour 23: Fester has 56 kills and has been killed 1 time in the Me 262.

Tour 24: Fester has 5 kills and has been killed 0 times in the Me 262.

Add that up and its only 17 deaths, multiply by 200 per plane and its only 3400 perks. You mean to say that you have lost another 4600 perks on discos and ditches?  

Come on Fester. You are an excellent pilot. No need to embelish the truth.

Well i fly the AR 234 more than any other perk plane I just love it, it is one of my favorate planes and I just enjoy it, howeaver I wish we had some 20mm MG 151/20's for it. I like the 262 as well spent some perks on it last tour, other than that I dont realy fly theam much Ta 152 once in a while, typone after that, but it is a rae thing probably less than 20 kills a tour in all the ftrs.

 I have over 10k in the bank.

perk planes are fun, but:
a. you really need a gang to make them worthwhile. Kinda like social alcoholism , come to think of it.

b. Ever since 1.08, AH crashes on me every hour or so.  If I'm in a perk plane, there's a good chance I'll lose it.

This is precisely the reason I do not like nor will I support the perk system. It rewards those who do not NEED the perk planes in any way to be a serious competitor in the game. Those who are good enough or live in the game enough have no need to be rewarded with a plane that makes them even more capable. Backwards incentive.

And have you wondered why so many fly la7 and n1ks and spitfires?

These planes are NEEDED by most to be a "serious competitor". Now you saying they should get the f4u4, 152, tempest and 262 so they can be competitive because they "need it"?

Remember the tours spent with the CHOG unperked? HORROR. And the C-hog is a mediocre performer compared to the la7, n1k and spitIX!. Now think of an MA with f4u4's playing turn & zoom with "those who dont need it", tempests zooming up and down, hordes of 262's spewing 30mm before ripping their wings off and 152's being flown instead of any other 190..

and just when do these people "stop needing it" to be "competitive"? or when do those that "dont need it" become fed up and fly the same planes they do?

Not to mention every time a perk plane icon is seen every damn plane in the arena turns to HO it   .
