Whose you most feared pilot?

Senna...38 vs La-7, as fight goes on, gains advantage. La-7s usually get the 38 at start of engagement because of superior performance thus being able to dictate the attack on his terms. As fight progresses if he misses initially, 38 is a worthy opponent and probable victor unless la-7 buggs out or runs away (which they usually do). I love droping flaps on an la-7 if I get that chance...

Got to disagree with that one, if a co-e 38 meets an la-7 and the la-7 dies it's pilot error....period. La-7 should control the fight from the beginning...doesn't mean he'll win, but if he loses he got beat by a better pilot...or he knowing pushed it to far trying for the kill.

Now a 38 with an E advantage has a decided advantage till the E evens out...of course that will only take about 3-4 seconds if the la-7 has any alt:)

I haven't ran into too many of the big names in the MA, but Fester has spanked me 3-4 times. I used to think I was pretty good at cherry picking the kill in a furball, but his SA is, frankly, amazing. In a 262 he's like a great white shark :) I usually yawn when I see a 262 in the MA -- he doesn't give you time to yawn.

As others have said, more often or not I'm my own worst enemy.

La-7s are freaking amazing sometimes. They are deadly as hell but when the fight slows down they arent so nimble and are actually quite clumsy. So long as they are buzzing up or down all around me thats ok. Soon as they get to my rear quarter hemisphere is when I start to panic. Id rather off tangent their move RIGHT AWAY even if its not the direction I want to go  than allow them to settle in back there. However if they do settle in the rear off D5-9 and cant shoot straight, then I try to lure them into a slow fight and let them get closer. Twist a bit, they close up, drop flaps etc... I often get reversals on la-7s in a P-38. Thats why I feel they are not so great when they are slow (but its very dangerous there). Its just their high speed shark attacks are dangerous if the pilot is a good shot as well. La-7 hunting isnt very healthy in my opinion.

PS: In entering a fight area, the most dangerous unkown or unseen airplane is an la-7.

IMO...

What a cool post... I had only one nemesis over the years and he is now my teammate! Drumroll..................... .

KBMAN!

Back in version 1.0X he would just cream me with that Golly-geened F4U. I think the FM was porked or something. It didn't matter what plane I was in, had an E or altitude advantage or whatever, he would just get on my bellybutton and that would be the end of it, no use fighting it, I knew it was inevidable (S?). This was a couple years ago when the numbers were less and the maps smaller, making it hard to avoid certain people if you still wanted to actually fight.

La7s aren't that hard to defeat. They have weakness's. Theres only two guys I hate in em, thats shane and kbman. Both of them have a combination of good skills and knowing any 'moves' I try to pull.

About 50% of my Lala kills are made without a shot being fired (by me).

Havent had pleasure of fitin shane too much but KBMAN is a handfull. His flying style is similar to mine and so gives me a hard time. When I run into kbman its usually over in a flash, me or him. lol I think its funny actually, kinda suicidal sorta is my take on it.

Let me specify, turnfight, not energy fight.  P38 can beat la7 in turnfight, but spit5 it has no chance, i don't care if your god.  In that case, against the more agile planes is the only time I resort to energy fighting.  I am not trying to say p38 takes all that much skill to fly, but i could triple my kill tally in an la7 or a spit if I flew it as much as a lightning.

Well, thank God you stick to the P-38, or you just might unbalance the arena all by your lonesome!

Lazer1 is prolly right Dead Man Flying. When I had played for a couple of weeks I tried the La7. First sortie ... landed 4 kills, another first for me. After that I flew it almost exclusively and regularly landed 3-7 kills (no re-arm, hadn't figured out that one yet). I stopped flying the dweeb-7 when I realized why people spat in my face when I killed them in it. It's just so amazingly easy to succeed in.

Well, of course he's right.  He's the self-proclaimed Ace of Aces, after all!  Every word out of his mouth is a gold nugget of air combat wisdom.

so, seeing how easy it is to blow thru a furball in a fast la7 and get a few kills and run away, and being the kind of person who can't handle a little ridicule, GSholz so instead takes up the 190d9 or 109g10 and does the exact same thing, albeit a little less successfully - but at least no one is calling him a LAmer7 no more.  btw when exactly was this great la7 experiment of yours?

:D

anyone ever point out a 109g10 can take on an la7 pretty much on equal terms? favor moves over to 109's side the higher the fight goes.

people always seem to forget to factor in the way various players fly when talking about what they fly.

LOL! You're right about the D9 and G10. Both are superior to the La7 ... if you know how to exploit their strengths. The La7 is much easier to fly well, you can make mistakes and the plane will often save you from a bad situation. If you end up low and slow in the D9 you're dead. The G10 will kill you easily if you don't watch out for its terrible hi speed compression problem, and you can't outrun the pony's and tiffies.

Hmm ... looking at the stats page, it seems my memory failed me a bit. I had flown a little more than a month when I went on my dweeb-7 kill spree. Tour 33; 45 kills and 20 deaths in the La7. Had been experimenting up till then. Upped it a couple of times in tour 35 (prolly base defence/vulched field).
