Did any AW's got to Warbirds?
« on: November 13, 2001, 01:32:00 PM »
I've been monitoring the AGW board and find almost nothing about AWs joining there.

I'm just wondering if WBs picked up any new members?  There was one post about the very low numbers in the arenas and suggesting they combine them all into one.

I still have a lot of friends in WBs, but I'm suspecting that the old flight sim is losing altitude (so to speak).

WB's did pick up some AW's. Mostly RR types (weenies?) that fealt they weren't up to adapting to AH.

IMHO this is the place to be if your "serious" about this genra.

AH got the "core" AW community en-mass. I note that when EA.com took AW there was an initial exodus. Now the rest of us have caught up.

Next year when AH has it's CON and we're all drinking together and petting our sheep - they will be without.   :)

I was wondering how much the pricing played in the decision making process.  AH is more expensive than AW was, but its cheaper than full access Warbirds.  Of course, there is the FA in Warbirds that can be played for $9.95/mo (same as AW?) but its more like a RR arena.

Seems pricing would have something to do with it.  Of course, personal preference as far as gameplay and management go are also major contributing factors.

Just wondering in anyone came to AH simply because it was cheaper... or if gameplay was more of a factor.  The same goes for those that decided on Warbirds.

Cost wasnt a factor to me, I came for gameplay and the fact that HT & Pyro run the show.

It was both for me.  I had taken a hiatis from online flying due to work and school for about 2 years and am now just getting back into it.  It was Nov 6th when I tried to sign on to EA.com to fly with AW and got the "no knew subscriptions" message since EA had decided to can AW.  Boy was I lost.  Where do I go to fly?  What were the names of those other flight sims?  Well needless to say I found my way here and have been happy with what I have found.  So far my flight experience has been enjoyable (even though I'm a big flying target right now <g> ) and I plan to stick around for the long-haul.

Quick question I have been dying to ask...
Exile, were you ever part of the CMC in AW?

Well, it may gain altitude here shortly, too--look for announcements within the next two weeks or so. May just change some perceptions...

Seems there is influx of both new players and AW pilots in WB. Seeing and heard about AW pilots in the WB3 arenas (which are all accessable with the 9 bucks plan, not limited to easymode arenas), and some in the WB2 areas. Takes time for the new people to find AGW of course, they'll first naturally see the iEN boards.

WB3 arenas are technically "free"... for now.  That won't be the case for much longer.

I tried WB for a month, but found it too mushy in the flight model (while AH is too crisp, WB errors much farther IMHO).  I was also not thrilled with it visually, AH just seems much more pollished.

May just be what Im used too, but comming from AW to AH, I didnt get the same "eh" feeling I get from WB.
