I am glad I got to fly the "HARDEST" online sim ever .
« on: September 09, 2000, 09:10:00 AM »
I spent 329 hours at it and mostly was fun . After I more or less got it learned was starting to get boring so I went on to Jets mostly .

Now easymo you wrote I think that the new FM might be like FA3 (ya I know the future FA2   )? Well IMO it's more like Combat Flight Simulator . Just fly CFS Spitfire one in 100% mode and use the 1 key on number pad with the Number lock off to give you "extra" added elevator control and you most likely will see what I mean (another plane like that in the sim is Spit9 ).

I flew that sim (CFS )around 1000 + hours online and AH version 1.04 feels more like it than FA2 and I have around 500 + hours in that one .

Good or bad , don't know or care at this point I guess . Easier to say the least , just loaded up a Hog C with full gas , and two 1000lbs bombs and with auto takeoff OFFand combat trim OFF you can take off with FULL THROTTLE AND WEB ON with only three to four little rudder inputs . Thats right off the start , just like a drag racer    Now go back and try that in Version 1.03 .

Seems that the flight model changed more than just keeping more E or combat trim IMO .

Anyway , just glad I got to learn the "hardest" online flight sim before they changed it I guess .

cheers spro

Hard doesnt always equate to realistic.
I attended an online chat the other night with triple ace Col. Bud Anderson, he flew P51's in the European theater in WWII. I asked him how easy it was to stall the P51 or even get it into a spin and in his words it was very difficult to stall the plane out unless you were just being totally ham-fisted. I think the stalls in earlier version of AH were just hard to be hard and for no reason other then that. I see your point for sure but I think sometimes in the online sim world we tend to think that the harder the FM the more realistic it is and thats not alwyas the case. I couldnt care less if AH is the hardest sim out there, its realism we all seek I think.

Just my thoughts, take them for what they are worth.

S!

LOL hard to stallout in a p51
well if ure a very experienced pilot and very used to your stick u wont !!!!!
if ure a flightsim pilot with no force feedback and so on u will pretty quick in a realistick enviorment.
Thing is what goes up has to come down, and
the new flith realism in AH is way to easy if used to the 1.03 version.
Reason i saying this is it will take some time to get back to the arcade flight level like FA to get used to it again.
Another thing is well we hear the stall horn but the feker wont stall however hard u try lol anymore.
Thats a big fault about this version .

Stall horn represents the onset of a stall. The harder you pull, the more pronounced it's affects get. I've gotten into 3, count 'em, THREE flat spins in a P38 in ONE flight. The stall horn was louder than a 5Liter engine with straight pipe and I was spinning so damn fast if I was on a tea cup ride I would of puked all over the place. This FM is no where near FA at all. Feels more like WB, and to me that isn't unrealistic  at all. FA is just laughable. Just because it's easier, does NOT mean it's not any closer to realism than something that isn't really hard.

I guess I'm just missing the entire point here. Are we aiming for realistic flight or just something that is "harder" but not necessarily more realistic? If it's the latter, well then you are an idiot and your neurons in the smart part of your brain aren't firing.

Yeah, I was around when WB was still done by HT and Pyro. I was around when they were called ICI. I was around for the Domark(now EIDOS)/ICI split. I was just offering a comparrison to support my belief that AH did not become any less realistic just because it became slightly easier to maintain controlled flight.

Most likely you are

I wrote the above post because of the pride I felt learning to fly the "hardest" ww2 online flight sim to date .

Lets face it , it took a little bit of skill to take off in the Hog fully loaded with gas , rockets and bombs . Now it really is a differant story .

Don't know "real" like many that post here ( I wouldn't know "real" if it uped and bit me on the bellybutton I guess     ), just only know whats "hard"  .

Guess that makes me a idiot then     .

BTY have you flown FA2 in the realistic rooms ? If not you might try it . The planes do stall alot "easier" than AH now .

Also no
1.auto takeoff
2.auto level
3.auto climb
4.drop in pickle barrle bombing from 30k
5.You can run into your own sides planes .
6.No icons or distance tags of anykind .
It does have some easier options too of course but it's not "just laughable" anymore compared to version 1.04 of AH , that is of course IMO .

cheers spro

Yep and there is no one there in the fullreal arena. I have had fun with it but this is alot better. I didn't like the blurry graphics also.

I think most of us are history buffs and want real!!

I feel that we can only get that with constructive criticism and DATA.

It would also be nice to know what data HTC is using so we are all on the same page!!
HMMM???
This crap of it's not right cause I was used to 1.03 is BS.  I think 1.03 was porked.  Ill shutup now cause I dont have any DATA.

I'm after 'real'... that said, I don't know what 'real' is like, I just know what I've read, etc.

...and I like AH!  (and I suck at it!)

My only regret is that they did'nt put out a KI 84 befor they dropped the old FM. That would have been sweet.
