I have to confess...
If they didn't sell WRX's in the USA I probably would be driving a BRG Cooper S right now.  I was scarred for life by attending my dad's SCCA events as a child.

There's actually nothing mini about them.  They are pretty huge hatchbacks, like the VW Golf.  I think they are pretty close to 3000 lbs.

My 86 Civic Si was about 2000 pounds even.  Now that was a small car.  But it still hauled my 6-4 bellybutton around quite nicely.  :)

Correction they are about 2700 lb.  Still pretty big for a hatch.  About the same weight as a mid-60's Mustang or Camaro.

I'd have it British Racing Green, with the UK Union Flag on top and white stripes on the bonnet (=hood).

I'd definitely get the supercharged version if I could afford it.

BTW the Mini is the North American Car of the Year.

I'll keep my Fairlane.  I want something that won't explode into a million bits of shrapnel when someone runs into me.

Cute looking car I guess but it reminds me of a 78 civic.

It came with it (I bought it slightly used).  But you can order them from the dealer.   They cost about $200.  You can get a Union Jack, US Flag or a Checkered flag.

I'd forgo the leather and spend the money on Wet Okole wetsuit neoprene seat covers - sportier and more practical.

I've convinced my wife that the Mini is going to be our next car - in 4 years.  We had just bought a new Xterra when the Mini started coming across the pond to the US, so no new vehicles until the ones we have start giving us trouble.

I think the Mini has the potential to be the next street racing machine, certainly moreso than the new Civic Si that's out.  The original ones used to turn in impressive performance on the road racing tracks where turning ability was more of a factor than flat-out high end speed.

Seriously, Coopers are cool cars. Enjoy it before you have kids and have to upgrade to a station wagon...

My friend is a Miata fan. He spent as much money upgrading it as it originally cost. It now has an engine half as powerfull as my 40 ton T-72 tank used to. If a passenger is not carefull to sit really tight, one gets whiplash injury just pulling out of the driveway...

This is true of my wife... The first time that mini commercial (the one with the English traffic cop) came on, I remarked what a cool car it was... she turned up her nose and sniffed... eeewwww.

GRUNHERZ: Your T72?

Not is the sense that I owned it. The one I was issued for the duration of my military service...
