Problems, problems, problems...
« on: January 08, 2003, 12:51:08 PM »
Ok, so 2003 is starting off real crappy on my end. Seems some joker decided he would be funny and somehow got ahold of my credit card number. I use a Visa card that automatically withdraws money from my account when I make a purchase. Some joker got ahold of my number and I went from 400 dollars to 18 in a week without touching my card.

Bank and the cops have gotten involved. My card's been destroyed and my account might be closed. I have no idea if I'm going to get the money back, as the bank said it could take up to a month to get things sorted out.

Then, I found out that I need to get a brake job done on my car. Seems the previous owner did absolutly no work on the brakes, or any other part of the car for that matter. When I had the brakes inspected, the pads on three brakes (four wheel discs) were all less than 2 mm, and one brake had no pads left at all. Parents paid for it, but expect me to pay them back at least half...so there goes my next paycheck...

Then, I get told by the job I applied for that my application has been "put on file", so I believe that that job is one I won't get...

Lastly, it seems that my current job is cutting hours, leaving part timers like me without work and even less money...

:( I already want 2003 to be over...

Sucks man...but look at it this way, it is just money.

Lots of worse stuff could happen early in a year and that year can turn out okay in the end.

trust me...I know.

Eagler speaks the truth!  The thing is...not to become bitter over age when your sine wave is at its bottom...or you'll turn into an MG or a Weazel :D (Just kidding Weazel! well, sorta..:) )

Your still pretty young man, relax, life is how you look at it, and if you get all down about it, your going to be down alot.

Take it in stride and find another job.

Hell next time get your parants to loan you the money for some cheap tools and a book and you could have fixed the brakes yourself for half the money!

Life goes on.

I feel your pain.  Had my credit card number stolen and used for setting up adult websites.  That looked real good on my monthly statement.

Then I lost my ATM card on Christmas Eve morning and didn't realize it until Christmas Day dinner.  My holiday joy was shattered by thoughts of someone having a very merry Christmas on my tab.

The stole CC number taught me the value of shredding anything with my cc number on it, and to pay cash for restaurant bills.

The lost ATM card taught me the value of keeping enough cash on hand to cover typical expenses for two weeks, which is how long it took to get a new card and PIN.

Learn something from your situation or you'll be doomed to repeat it.

Thanks for the relpies, guys. I needed a place to vent and this seemed a less violent option.

I know things'll get better...I just hope it's soon.

Well, I only use plastic, at least as long as it's not in my name and I can buy the card cheap from the neighborhood crackhead.

that sucks texace... but how the shreck would someone get your # in the first place?  Any amazinhunk friends?  I also have a check card and I dont make online purchases with it (because of the direct w/d from the account).

I'm sure you've thought it over already, but is it possible an amazinhunk friend DID steal it?  Have you made any online purchases  (untrustworthy or unsecure sites)?

I'd be out for blood.  Some bellybutton stole my wallet a few years back (before I had the card) from a locker at school.  I had 70 bucks in there.  It was a lot at the time :)  I also had a few cards in there; my driver's license, a membership card to blockbuster video, and other stuff.  I phoned the blockbuster to inform them of the card theft.  Sure enough the punks tried to use it.  Blockbuster denied service and gave me a description of them.  Through cunning detective work, I already had a few suspects in mind and the description singled'em out.  I didn't want to press any charges so I rounded up a few people and had some fun.  I got it all back except the cash, but thats ok.  Beating the toejam out of the thief was more than worth the 70 bucks.

so are checks.
anything involving trust can (in the case of money, will) be manipulated.
cash is the only way to go & has the double benefit of not creating a paper trail that turns into junkmail, spam, telemarketing calls and the unwanted attention of jon poindexter
