I use p4 2.8 Gig
1 Gig Ram
Radeon 9700 pro Video Card
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and Full CH USB set-up
Running on Windows XP Pro

DX 9.0 works like a charm, with the Radeon 9700 pro, I got some nice graphical and performance enhancements with it as well under DX 9.0.Without a Video card that specifically support DX 9.0 features, the performance increase will likely be minimal.

Tried it, removed it after 3 days.

Made no discernable change in AH, but killed some of my other older games.

Made my 800 act like a p133

If you try it there is a link to a DX buster in hardware/software forum. Works wonders.

Using DirectX 9.0 since it came out on beta and have had no adverse effects from using it.

Since I'm installed the latest unofficial Nvidia drivers that are DirectX 9.0 compliant, I do have crisper and brighter graphics and a slight gain in performance.  I think the slight gain in performance is due to the 42.01 drivers rather than Direct 9.0 but YMMV.
