Battle Damage!

What I would love to see... Battle damage! AH already tracks where hits land on the airframe, could we maybe get some battle damage effects, bullet holes, etc...? Like IL-2? I think it would add an amazing level of immersion to see a row of .50 cal holes punched in you wing. Or some 20mm cannon holes in the fuse, etc... I would love to be able to land and look at my aircraft covered with holes, and say "whew" I made it back :) Come on HTC I know you can do it!

Agreed.  I would especially like to see battle damage to naval vessels added.  Right now, a ship is either pristine in appearance and performance, or it's pushing up toes to the daisys.  Let's see some performance and system degradation, too.

Please, no.  My system runs slow enough already, we don't need to degrade it any further.

I don't want to see it. But it would be fun to feel.

A few holes in the wings could increase drag, a few pings on not-yet-fallen-off control surfaces reduce their efficiency, a hit on the engine killing a cylinder or a fuel line and reducing power, etc...

We have that now.  I've had elevators shot off plenty of times!

Ever try to turn a Mustang when missing a flap?

We don't have that now. We can only loose complete parts. A complete elevator (on one side), a complete wingtip (now that sounds strange ;) )...

We don't have engines that run on half the power because one bank of cylinders doesn't get any fuel. We don't have small percentage increased drag when a single cannon round hit a wing. We can't loose a bit of rudder authority when part of it is blown away.

Each part is either fully operational or completely gone.

OUr damage system actually allows for BETTER performance with certain damage.

TEST: have a buddy blow both wingtips off of your Mustang. Take off and fly level. You can get higher airspeed (slightly) because of reduced drag? (smaller wing area now)

Seems that there should be a LOT more drag on a wing that is busted up.

Also, would love to see degraging engine performance for over stressed or damaged fuel, oil, radiators.

I don't know if it is fact or just perception, but in AWIII, people would worry about over-rev or porking their engines, and loosing perfromance, if they ran them too hard.
