Thanks Whels for fly bys'!

Whels sent me some great fly by sounds of the F4U, P51 etc.  They're great!  If you've ever heard a P51 fly by, it has a distinctive sound all it's own.  I'm using the P51 fly by sound for windows start.

Thanks again Whels!

Hiya Hajo!

Yup. Wheels has some great sounds collected.  I've used Citabrias P-38 sounds, Fscotts, Flakbait, Mitsus' and many others along the way. The OEM sounds are just "ok" but HTC obviously intende them to be one thing the player can mess with.  These after market sounds are awesome. Best sounds I've ever had in an online game to listen to.

Nothing like hearing the throaty roar of the two Allisons on the P-38. Or the sound of the powerful, bassey P&W monster on the P-47. Heck my 109 sounds give me a woody when flying that too  :)  I can't help but think of the wimpy Maytag washermachine sounds one would hear in another game long ago. Online sims have come far to say the least!

The custom sounds are great -- love the whine of the P-47 turbo.   :)

Also, I find the addition of external sounds to be one of the most immersive effects yet.  Sometimes I'll just sit in the tower and listen.  (Maybe I should get a life?)

Westy Hiyas!

Yup, Whels , flakbait, and Mitsu have great sound packages.  I'm using a combo of all three.  Deepens the emersion into the game.  The sounds Whels sent me are engine sounds that are heard during an air show fly by.  Nothing like the sound of the Merlin in a P51.  The Spit has a Merlin also but doesn't sound anything like the P51.  P51 engine sound in a League of it's own and a sound any aircraft enthusiast remembers and appreciates.  With eyes closed and back turned one can't mistake the sound of a P51!

Exactly Hajo  :D

Rude,  I'd always downloaded and collected the files over the past few years.  What I've collected has accumulayted to a couple hundred MB worth. I store them on a CD I burned for AH files. However I found these links which should be more than enough to make you or anyone happy  :)

AKWabbit had the first set. Great sounds. The link was on the HTC download page but not anymore. Same with Citabrias' P-38 sounds. But I think they've been incorprated into the sets by some of these folks:

 Flakbaits' Sound Collection http://www.worldaccessnet.com/~delta6/ultimate.htm

 Mitsus' Sounds http://www.ah.wakwak.com/~mitsu/244sentai/ah_sound.htm

and Whels' collection http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AHsounds/

To use custom sounds just make a folder under c:/program files/HTC/Aces High/sounds with that planes exact ID (ie:  P51b) for any plane you want specific sounds to be used for.  Extract the P-51B (for example) sound files to the specific P51b folder and from then on the program will use only those sounds for the P51B. You can do that for every plane in AH.

Well, that was most helpful and I find myself slightly taken back by such a high degree of kindness.

Thanks man! :)
