If I remember right, that didnt give it much more speed. Only about 100-120kts, as I remember...

But still that would make it as fast as a Me262...
Ooohhh, makes one wonder about compressibility and high G-loads.

it was a miserable failure.

one of the rockets cut out and the pilot was unable to control the lateral instability.I think the pilot may have even been killed in the resulting crash but cant remember.The project was cancelled due to the fact they could never calibrate the two rockets to garentee an even power output from both wings.

soviets tried just about the same project w/ just about the same results...has any ramjet plane ever gone into production?

Check the high speed operation of the engines in the YF-12/SR71. As close as production maned aircraft have been to a ramjet.
