HTC communications lacking lately?
« on: January 12, 2003, 12:16:15 PM »
Eagl pointed out in another thread (now locked)that:

HTC's silence on the issue doesn't suprise me since that's how they deal with pretty much every problem in the game,

I have to agree. Seems like they rarely bother to give any input on this board other than to reprimand someone.  Since this is the official "HTC" board I would expect more company/player communications.  That originally was one of the things that set this company and game apart from the others.

I am sure there will be some suckups in a hurry to defend them, and yes, I am sure they are all good little worker bees coming up with the next version.  I just think a little chatting with the crowd would go along way into making us feel they still give a snot about the community and not just our monthly fee.

Used to be common to see HT or Pyro in blue at differant times of the day online, and maybe its just me, but seems like I only see it for a day or so after a new version is released.

That's a pretty weak claim that is usually backed up by

to stiffle any counter claim

I've seen plenty of posts by Skuzzy and hitech in the past few weeks and they don't have time to answer every issue personally but they do listen to the community. Things like connection issues and they moved the server and posted a poll to see if things had improved they then added new network code but everyone squeaked because there was not as many planes. Bomber issues were worked on in v1.10 and team balancing which many complained (and some outright whined about) is trying to be fixed with the perk system. Mmm yes HTC don't listen to us at all do they?

Maybe they do listen. Dago's issue is that HTC does not speak.

He's got a point... one could easily walk away from this BBS with the perception that HTC makes announcements in the news forum and smacks down the unruly in all the other forums.

Don't get me wrong... I do understand that keeping up with this board could easily be a full time job. If inactivity on this board means that HTC is busily working on fixing bugs and adding features, fine. I can live with it.

Its not that he doesn't speak.. because he's already been on this bbs and said that they are looking into the cause of the server lag issues...

Its just that each and every person that brings it up seems to want HTC to come here and say it again just to apease them.

Its like the invisible plane threads with all the "I'm fed up.. I'm leaving... htc is doing nothing to solve this..."

How much toejam do they need to reply to to make you happy dago?  Would you rather time be spent here or there?  Would you rather they be looking for solutions or placating customers?

They know about the issue, they've said they know about the issue.  What more do they need to communicate?

I agree with ya Revvin...Skuzzy seems to address just about issue thrown his way. Ya know gang, ya can't have it both ways...for every hour HT & Pyro spend in here, that's one less hour being devoted to updates and bug issues.

I don't doubt that you're correct, but just look at the number of threads running. How often do you think a reply from HTC gets lost in the noise?

The solution to posts getting lost in the noise is not to make more noise.

BTW.. if someone comes in and says "HT has already said they are looking into it" they get branded a fanboi because this thread is actually about people wanting HTC to respond specifically to them.

There was one thread a few weeks ago where Hitech was labelled as being anti Lw, he posts to say it's untrue only to have to re-state this time and time again as more whiners accuse him of being this way but all posting the same few reasons for believing it.

Yeah.. you're point revvin?  BTW.. how much work do you think he got done that day?

You can be here telling people about how much you plan to do, or you can be there doing it.  Some day, a few more will catch on.

Point being the time he had to waste refuting the same claims over and over when one post should have been enough to end the discussion but some would not let it drop.

How should they have responded to Steve's hissy fit?

This is the typical claim made by people who become disenchanted with the game by no ones fault but their own -I like to attribute it to their negative feelings about life in general and the game in particular.   It must be similar to what women feel like when they menstruate :P

Ive been with these guys (HTC) since 96 and nothing has changed regarding their performance as it relates to managing their product.

For some reason, some people insist that they could do better themselves but they never start their own online gaming company.  Go figure....
