HTC, A Suggestion for the BBS
« on: January 13, 2003, 02:31:07 PM »
It's obvious that some people have been getting testy lately and I don't know why.  It's a shame that HTC's valuable development time is going to be wasted policing a community that should be able to take care of itself, though I think it probably is needed at this point.

A lot of the behaviour I've seen here lately would earn the kids in my daughter's third grade class a "time out".

I have been to other boards where there is a "sticky" post, usually from the moderator, which stays at the top of the board all the time.  The sticky usually answers some faqs or gives some general rules for the board.

Maybe a "sticky" here would help remind people about what's appropriate for which board, while also cutting down on the extraneous posts.

Just a thought.

IMHO no sticky is necessary since we all assume that this board is visited by inteligent and reasonable people who know where are the "borders".

And the others? Well... They won't run away scared by a sticky post I'm affraid...

I'd rather see a spellchecker.  It would go a long way towards educating today's youth.

I believe firmly in the concept of "educated idiots"...  I've seen people that can spell correctly and use grammar perfectly who are beyond help socially and lack any form of common sense whatsoever...

This is part of being in the human race, and no matter what you do, there will always be people who, how shall we say... IRRITATE THE HELL OUT OF OTHERS...LOL

I just try not to be one of them  :-)  And for those who are, I have this unique ability called selective hearing to tune them out...

Just take them for what they are, and don't worry so much about it buddy...  Anyone with common sense can identify the idiots and we all know who they are.

I have students that can spell words I cant even imagine the meaning of, but they seem to have the hardest time understanding the simplest theories in evolutionary biology.....
